NEW CASTLE, Del. - There is a large police presence at a post office in New Castle County, Delaware.

County police tell Action News Thursday morning the FBI has taken over an investigation at the Quigly Boulevard post office that they were originally called to inspect.

The post office was evacuated around 6 a.m. Action News has learned all of the mail trucks have been moved to other facilities.

This comes as news broke that a possible explosive device may have been mailed to a home belonging to former Vice President Joe Biden. Authorities have not said if this is the focus of their investigation.

since the Biden Center is on campus. If so, we might be evacuated since our building is close by. Son drove into Wilmington for class early this morning and said a few streets were cordoned off (DuPont, Broom, and another one) with heavy police and other law enforcement presence. That was also reported as being in regards to a package, similar to the others, addressed to Joe.

So glad my daughter opted NOT to take pictures of the building housing the Biden Center on Tuesday. She said she started to (for a Historic Preservation project), but decided against it when she saw just how many extra cameras, etc. were up on the grounds. I told her she could have gone in and asked permission (that's what I would have done), but she found another building in the area to photograph. Now I'm glad she didn't even ask.

DE is such a small state that they will probably limit it to the Wilmington/immediate suburb area POs (which is New Castle County). But since most of the LEOs (including feds) have a "if you see something, say something" announcement out there, I expect people will be reporting all sorts of things for a bit. All the POs should have video surveillance footage available though and the hope is that the archive footage has been successfully recorded and correctly stored (and not overwritten, etc).

It is more accurate to simply cut & paste rather than transcribe the headlines so the formatting from the original is often preserved no matter how inaccurately that may convey tone.
