Barbour: ‘I Would Love For Christie To Put A Hot Poker To Obama’s Butt’

Source: TPM

Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour said that he wished New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie had "put a hot poker to Obama's butt" in his keynote speech at the Republican National Convention," according to a report from Bloomberg Businessweek.

Barbour spoke at a fundraiser and briefing in Tampa last Thursday put on by Karl Rove, who co-founded the American Crossroads super PAC and its sister non-profit. Barbour is a former adviser to the groups.

From that Bloomberg Businessweek article:

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-09-04/exclusive-how-karl-roves-super-pac-plays-the-senate#p1

Barbour offered a brief assessment of the Republican National Convention. “While I would love for [Chris] Christie to put a hot poker to Obama’s butt,” said Barbour of the RNC keynote speaker, “I thought he did what he was supposed to do.”

Editing to add that this was at the same American Crossroads briefing where Karl Rove "joked" about murdering Todd Akin.

This Bloomberg Businessweek article has new details about that briefing and what was said then.

They weren't aware a journalist was present. This is how these pigs talk to one another when they don't think it'll get media attention.

As the Bloomberg journalist explained:

I had been invited to attend as the guest of a significant Republican donor who knew that I was a journalist. At no point was I presented with, nor did I agree to, restrictions regarding the information I heard. Upon my arrival at the breakfast, I was not asked if I was a journalist. I gave my name, identified the person who had invited me, received a wristband, and was ushered into the dining room. American Crossroads disputes this version of events but declined to comment further.

It's more to avoid criticism by other members of the media than by anyone else because it's considered to be secret that Republicans act like this behind closed doors. Even though ALL of the establishment media has seen it for themselves.

They act like keeping it quiet is as "noble" as the press keeping the fact that FDR was in a wheelchair a secret.

Haley Barbour knew exactly what he was saying and it had a specific intended effect. You see back in the times of slavery, the plantation Overseers would use all sorts of punishment to put any sort of uprising down. Those slaves who did not comply and rebelled were, along with whippings, branded like cattle to remind them they were nothing more than property. This imagery is conjured up any time anyone challenges white male authority (in the case of the President, his mere existence does for them) as a means to inform one of their "place" and to not be an uppity negro.

While it may be easy to put this in the category of just another knuckledragger letting their true feelings be known, do not walk down that path. The rhetoric on the Right is increasingly becoming traitorous to this very public. They wish to incite the dumb masses that they control in to a rebellious furor in same way their aristocratic ancestors did 150 years ago.

Everyone here should be ready to vote to keep this Republic free, but be willing to lay down their self in order to protect this Republic. I very much hope for a peaceful resolution to this challenge, but I'm ready for the latter.
