Kansas Secretary of State and GOP gubernatorial nominee Kris Kobach is desperately trying to publicly prevent the release of parts of a deposition tape played at a trial over one of his voter restrictions before Election Day.
Kobach is specifically concerned that the video will be used in last-minute political commercials targeting the Defendant personally, Kobach said in a court filing Wednesday evening.
Indeed, the only reason that Plaintiffs are requesting the release of the video is to allow it to be used by partisan organizations and political candidates opposing Secretary Kobachs gubernatorial campaign, Kobach said in the filing, which asked the judge if she ruled in favor of releasing the video to pause that decision so he could appeal it to a higher court.
The video excerpts were played at the trial last March, where the ACLU and others were challenging his proof-of-citizenship voter registration requirement. U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson ultimately knocked down the requirement a decision thats currently on appeal.

Yeah. I said that...cause it's true.
Republicans have to throw a fit about what they say cause they know that what comes out of their mouths is bullshit
Don't you see how that's unfair?

(51,607 posts)The fact that it will be aired to inform voters is exactly why it should be released. It's release is in the public interest!

(6,932 posts)Hell if what he's doing with this isn't bad enough that asshat wants to implement the Brownback 0% tax rate for Kansas Corporations AGAIN if elected. Shit,we haven't recovered from that disaster yet when they were rolled back a year or so ago.
Brownback put this State in such a shit hole financially that KDOT couldn't even take BIDS on road projects, let alone fund them. Schools had to shorted their year and hell turn off lights to try and save money and stay open. Small Kansas rural schools were really hit hard. All so some rich sons of bitches could skate along and not pay a PENNY in Kansas income tax.
