ZACAPA, Guatemala (AP) Sweaty, sunburned and exhausted, Jonathan Zuniga had been carrying his 1-year-old baby in his arms for five hours when help arrived unexpectedly from a local woman who offered him a used baby carriage.
Thank you, thank you very much, Zuniga told her, accepting the gift with a broad grin. I couldnt stand it anymore.
Many of the more than 2,000 Hondurans in a migrant caravan trying to wend its way to the United States left spontaneously with little more than the clothes on their backs and what they could quickly throw into backpacks.
In neighboring Guatemala, where their journey continued Wednesday amid warning tweets from President Donald Trump and other U.S. officials, they were helped at every turn by residents who offered them food, water and rides in pickups or on flatbed of semi-trailer trucks.

CHIQUIMULA, GUATEMALA
More than 2,000 Honduran migrants traveling en masse through Guatemala resumed their journey toward the United States on Wednesday as U.S. President Donald Trump sought to turn the caravan into a political issue three weeks before midterm elections.
A day after warning Central American governments they risked losing U.S. aid if they didn't do something and saying that anyone entering the country illegally would be arrested and deported, Trump turned his sights on Democrats and urged Republican allies to campaign on border security.
"Hard to believe that with thousands of people from South of the Border, walking unimpeded toward our country in the form of large Caravans, that the Democrats won't approve legislation that will allow laws for the protection of our country. Great Midterm issue for Republicans!'' Trump said in a Wednesday morning tweet.
"Republicans must make the horrendous, weak and outdated immigration laws, and the Border, a part of the Midterms!'' he continued.

According to a report from MSNBC, the caravan of migrants heading from Honduras to the U.S. border has increased in size and broken into two segments after President Donald Trump threatened to cut aid to the violence-plagued country.
Heres what happened
The caravan initially began with about 1,000 migrants from Honduras on Saturday, but has since grown in size, especially after it crossed into Guatemala.
The MSNBC report says the caravan has grown to 4,000 migrants, and has consequently broken into two partitions.
This is despite the threat from Trump that he would cut aid to Honduras unless they stopped the caravan from arriving at the U.S. border.
