O'Rourke goes on the attack against Cruz
Source: Politico
Beto ORourke is on the attack against Ted Cruz.
The Democrat aired his first handful of TV ads directly criticizing the Republican senator Wednesday, following a debate performance Tuesday night in which he repeatedly attacked Cruz, even invoking President Donald Trumps 2016-vintage Lyin Ted nickname and accusing Cruz of being dishonest with voters.
The shift comes as ORourke works to put himself within striking distance of Cruz in the final weeks of the campaign. Five public polls this month have shown Cruz leading O'Rourke by mid-to-high single digits, including four surveys in which Cruz got at least 50 percent support.
ORourke has a massive financial advantage to air the new contrast against Cruz: The Democrat raised over $38 million in the third quarter and ended September with nearly $23 million in the bank for the final weeks of the campaign, more than double the $11.2 million in Cruzs coffers, according to Federal Election Commission data.

(6,262 posts)The polls from being mainly positive and inspiring not as good as needed going into the home stretch. Hence - pull out the harsh stuff, even tho it should be well-known anyway.
Beto is the future -- hope it is in the very near future .

(51,697 posts)Typical GOP lying attack ads don't feature the GOP candidate, just attacks on the Dem candidate.

(51,697 posts)Those polls don't reflect unlikely voters, who Beto has energized. These ads would further energize those Dem voters while depressing Cruz turnout. What's not to like?
