Former Rep. Duncan Hunter goes to bat for his indicted son in bitter congressional re-election bid

The race for the 50th Congressional District is spanning multiple generations, as former Congressman Duncan L. Hunter held a news conference Tuesday attacking his son’s Democratic opponent as a security risk — and also attacking the opponent’s father and grandfather.

The rival, Ammar Campa-Najjar, showed up at Hunter’s news conference by the USS Midway Museum and told reporters that it’s incumbent Rep. Duncan D. Hunter who would have trouble passing a security screening, given that he’s under federal indictment.

Campa-Najjar, 29, of Jamul and Duncan D. Hunter, 41, of Alpine, are competing to represent a district that includes El Cajon, Escondido, much of rural San Diego County and parts of Riverside County.

Hunter’s high-profile indictment on 60 counts of misspending $250,000 of campaign funds featured prominently in August and September, but Hunter’s attacks on Campa-Najjar’s Palestinian lineage have taken center stage this month, facing widespread criticism that the attacks are racist.

hunter pere must have concluded that the benefit of having him prop up his dumbass spawn outweighs the negative of alerting the East SD County 'necks and hillbillies that it's now the son occupying the seat. The hunter campaigns have always been careful to keep the "jr." off the signs to keep voters from realizing the difference.

The rural people are very RED and brain dead. They are drones who do not think about anything except HATING others. These people are just hanging on to a forgotten past. When enough democratic people like me move into these rural zones and dilutes their majority vote will this area and other like this be flipped. We thinking people and democratic voting people are a minority in the rural areas of California.......
