NYPD Looks to Charge 9 Proud Boys With Assault for Manhattan Fight

NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said Monday that police believe they have evidence to charge nine members of the right-wing group Proud Boys and three protesters with counts of rioting or attempted assault. The brawl between them erupted around the corner from the Metropolitan Republican Club after a speech there by Proud Boys leader Gavin McInnes.

Video showed Proud Boys and associates leaving the club and being escorted in the opposite direction of protestors and then a block later rushing to fight with protestors after what appears to be a bottle was thrown their direction, according to police.

The video shows Proud Boys beating people on the street while shouting homophobic slurs. Photojournalist Sandi Bachom filmed several men as they kicked and punched people who laid on the ground.
