Trump vows 'severe punishment' if U.S. determines Saudi Arabia killed Khashoggi

President Trump vowed severe punishment for Saudi Arabia if the United States determines that Saudi agents killed Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, calling the journalists suspected murder really terrible and disgusting.
In excerpts of a new interview released Saturday morning, Trump said the incident is being investigated and that the Saudis deny any involvement, despite the mounting evidence that the Saudi regime was implicated in Khashoggis disappearance last week.
Well, nobody knows yet, but well probably be able to find out, Trump said in the interview with Lesley Stahl of CBSs 60 Minutes, which will air in full on Sunday night. Its being investigated, its being looked at very, very strongly. And we would be very upset and angry if that were the case. As of this moment, they deny it, and they deny it vehemently. Could it be them? Yes. Trump added, Were going to get to the bottom of it and there will be severe punishment.
Turkish authorities say a team of Saudis killed Khashoggi, and U.S. intelligence intercepts show Saudi officials discussing an operation to lure Khashoggi back to Saudi Arabia from his home in Virginia and detain him.

People are saying: 'Is he sane?' I have no idea.... but he was a young man of 26 or 27... when his father died. He's dealing with obviously very tough people, in particular the generals and others.
"And at a very young age, he was able to assume power. A lot of people, I'm sure, tried to take that power away, whether it was his uncle or anybody else. And he was able to do it. So obviously, he's a pretty smart cookie."
I dont know why a Trump is talking all tough here, like he gives a crap about this guys murder. He probably wishes he could do the same thing.

The Saudis are keeping a lot of his properties afloat. No way is Trump going to punish anyone who is giving him boat loads of money.

Turkey hates Saudi Arabia, hates MBS. It must be shaking SA down for some kind of concessions to smooth this over.
I can't wait for the talking points that comes out of video evidence. Like Groucho used to say, "who are you going to believe, me, or your lying eyes."

(4,037 posts)1 Intellegence has already been gathered. It has been publicly revealed through numerous sources that a 15 member hit team arrived in Turkey in advance of Khasoggis ( a Washington Post reporter) entrance to the embassy. The hit team is on film arriving at the airport, as was Kashoggis entrance to the embassy.
2 It has been revealed that a bone cutter was used in the publicly released information of a video in which Kashoggi was tortured, dismembered, and his remains taken from the embassy.
3 Turkey has been holding a Christian (CIA?) preacher / teacher in prison for two years. Negotiations for his release have fallen on deaf ears in Turkey for that period of time.
4 Kashoggi, the reporter from a media sometimes unfriendly to tRump is dead. The Christian preacher / teacher (spy?) amazingly was set free to return to America. Quid Pro Quo.
tRump now says hes gathering information about the circumstances. Bullshit. It was a tradeoff. The Saudis eliminate a thorn in their side ( right out of the Putin playbook) and we got the teacher / preacher (spy?). Coincidence? Gibbs says there are no coincidences Our government has known damn well the full scope of all of the circumstances related to sacrificing Kashoggi and freeing the preacher / teacher (spy?).
tRump, knowing that none of his core followers know how to read or comprehend news and follow his line of malarchy like cute little lambs will buy this plate of crap. Were looking into it. What a crock! Again, hes counting on the stupidity of his so called base - groupies who have never amounted to more than 34% to believe the Exalted Orange Leaders babble.

(7,142 posts)Turkey hates SA, hates MBS. The only reason to have a Saudi team go to Turkey isn't to investigate, it's to negotiate concessions. Turkey has SA over a barrel, we will most likely never know what Turkey gets to soft sell this murder.

(20,523 posts)ending with someone (preacher? teacher? spy?) released by Turkey...kinda implying that Turkey got something they wanted. I'm not seeing it.
And it sure doesn't seem as if Turkey is soft selling this at all. They seem to be the ONLY ones upset at all.

(8,203 posts)a disappearance, and reported murder of Khashoggi needs continuous digging...the pos knows it..he is and should be in fear of being exposed - he is now boxed in...if he goes too far in search of the truth..it is called BRIBERY exposure....by the Saudis....
The truth will come out..when did he know it....
This investigation should NOT be left up to this pos....The Atlantic has some great writings on this subject...you can bet, our international journalists, will continue to investigate - although, at their own peril....as one story relates..we have two countries who hate journalists.....
I am of the mind, this story, and the tax story by the NYT, and Mueller report will all be connected....

he will capture/arrest some number of rogues...whether they were the culprits or not...might be a good way to kill off a few of his enemies too...
he will sentence them to death
he will execute them immediately
and Trump will exonerate him.

That is all we ever get from drumpf. He knows Saudi Arabia did it and did it based on info Kushner sent them with the advice to "take care of this traitor". Until he's presented the truth in a form he can't deny, he'll just lie and lie and lie. Even when truth is shoved up his nose like his fave nose candy, he will still lie. He doesn't give a shit about murder, and has been known to threaten it himself.

(36 posts)hope to be wrong about this but guess it will be pursued like the farcical Kavanaugh investigation, or like Trump's sentiments on the Russian interference investigation where it was enough for Vlad to say, "No, we didn't ... " and Mueller becomes the head witch ... what a joke ... ultimately orange menace probably hopes this scares the hell out of the press ... you know, the enemies of the people ... and don't forget we have orange menace's spawn out there tweeting that Khashoggi is a terrorist ... sounds like he's justifying the murder or kidnapping that the Saudi's are denying ... maybe I'm letting my imagination run away ... don't know ....

(11,885 posts)Who knew beforehand what was going on. This will backfire badly on trump and the gop. Turning a blind eye to a murder from a sitting President? Looks like it , and saying they'll get to the bottom of it is more telling when he already knows what it all was all about , and what was going to happen. He wants to con people into believing him he cares, when he doesn't, and he'll protect another murderer like he's done with putin , and his killing people in other countries, and done nothing. He's not fooling anyone. Its all just another act for trump.
