Colin Powell Rips Trump on Immigration, NATO, Anti-Press Rhetoric: The World Can’t Believe What’s Happening

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell spoke out against President Donald Trump in an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria on Sunday, blasting his anti-press rhetoric, the retreat from the world stage, and his insults of U.S. allies.

Powell, a Republican who has maintained a low profile during the Trump administration, called out “what we are not doing as the United States of America.”

“What are we doing? We’re walking away from agreements, we’re walking away from alliances,” Powell said. He noted that Trump insulted U.S. allies at the NATO summit.

Powell said that his favorite three words in the Constitution are “we the people.” “Recently, it has become ‘me the president’ as opposed to ‘we the people,'” he said.

Video at the link, and a lot more of this article.

There are two video clips at the link, with the second one a great clip mostly of Madeleine Albright (who was interviewed with Powell) talking about the risks of fascism.

But what he did in Feb. 2003 also destroyed our credibility with our allies, probably even more so. Off topic, but I hope this stays with him the rest of his life. It sure didn't age well.

"Iraq's behavior demonstrates that (Iraqi President) Saddam Hussein and his regime have made no effort -- no effort -- to disarm
as required by the international community," Powell told foreign ministers and ambassadors gathered at the United Nations in New York. His 90-minute audiovisual presentation included diagrams of biological mobile weapons labs, satellite photos of chemical weapons facilities and recordings of intercepted phone calls between senior Iraqi military officials.

Powell also gave new details of the alleged link between the Iraqi regime and the al Qaida Islamic terror network, and reiterated U.S. claims -- disputed by some experts -- that Iraq had sought materials to build uranium enrichment equipment to help make nuclear weapons."

and helped to send many soldiers to their death and or maiming.

So he and Bush can both fuck off. I, for one, don't give a rat's ass what his opinion is on anything. He lost all credibility.

An administration aide attempted to stop the interview and Powell went ballistic. He was never in good graces with Bush again and never had a good word to say after realizing he was trotted out to pimp a lie for war (technically by Cheney).

He still has the independent pride of a general. He knows what he did.
