Collins Announces Final Yes On Kavanaugh, All But Ensuring His Confirmation

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) announced Friday she would vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, in a final vote slated for Saturday afternoon, all but guaranteeing the judge will be on the Supreme Court bench by the beginning of next week.
Collins had voted to advanced him an a procedural vote earlier Friday but had said she wasn't announcing her final vote until later in the afternoon, leaving an air of uncertainty around the final vote count.
Her announcement essentially brings to close what was a bitter and dramatic confirmation fight, which took perhaps the darkest turn when a number of women stepped forward with sexual misconduct allegations. Barring any dramatic developments overnight, Saturday's final confirmation vote, slated for the afternoon, is in effect a formality.
GOP leaders were able to secure Collins' vote after facilitating an FBI investigation into the sexual misconduct claims against Kavanaugh -- though one that Democrats have criticized as meager and incomplete.

I thought I was listening to Orrin Hatch talk with long brown hair.....................
The only way to find out this BS, is for the democrats to take back the house and bring people in, including the black robed fucking drunk that thinks that democrats are out to get him, well ....................let his paranoia become to reality................the house can demand a full investigation
Fuck this BS

(28,276 posts)If he gets seated on SCOTUS, his performance at that hearing and the nation-wide revulsion it set off will be a burden on him for the rest of his life. And if he makes a move against Roe vs. Wade, I hope there are sustained, effective protests from one coast to another.

(601 posts)although I think he's a right-wing operative and lying pos. Thomas will be retiring within the next 5-10 years. If the Democrats can retake power in the Senate and win the presidency in 2020, we could have a 5-4 liberal court (assuming we keep control of RGB's seat after she retires). But the Democrats have to either retake the Senate in 2018 or the presidency in 2020 for this to happen. If not, then we're looking at a 6-3 conservative majority, forcing the Democrats to consider expanding the SC.

I hope the people of Maine FINALLY learned their lesson this afternoon and vote that woman out of office.

(7,533 posts)And I hope it doesn't happen on the Senate floor in mid-sentence, his warbly turtle voice cutting off as he shits down his leg and one of his eyeballs bursts. And I hope it's not all captured live on CSPAN and played over and over as he lies in his hospital bed, unable to change the channel (since he survived) watching it over and over on the news with his one remaining good eye. That would be a really tragic shame. I really hope that doesn't happen.

Why do we expect more from a Republican than we do a Democrat? I understand she's a woman and being such should stand up for other women, but come on.
