McConnell: FBI report on Kavanaugh won't get public release

Source: Politico

The FBI’s final report from its misconduct inquiry into Brett Kavanaugh will be available to senators only, not the public, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Tuesday.

McConnell's avowal that "only senators will be allowed to look at" the FBI's final findings came as Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) pressed for the public release of a redacted version of the FBI report. But Republicans are worried about breaking precedent by releasing such information, which will be made available before the Senate votes this week on Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination, according to GOP leaders.

All 100 senators will have access to the report in a secure setting after the FBI releases it. Asked when he expects that report into multiple sexual misconduct claims against Kavanaugh, Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said that “I think it will be sooner than Friday but I don’t have an exact date.”

The intense level of public interest in the FBI's findings aside, Republican leaders are chiefly concerned with their own members having access to the bureau's material before a final vote on the judge's nomination, expected later this week.

...he's maintaining a veil over the malfeasance of the Senate in this entire process. Let's face it, he's got no interesting in "plowing through it" in public. Politics like that have to be done under the cover of secrecy.

They are such asshats.

If the FBI discovered evidence that Kavanaugh was the worst serial killer since Ted Bundy would they confirm him anyhow and we'd never know? Are all the senators sworn to secrecy?

Just saying, if it's not released to the public, there's no way of knowing what facts will be relied on and by whom.

So the Grassley's not in control of procedure because the next vote is the Senate floor, thus McConnell has procedural control. That said, the FBI report has to go to all 100 Senators. The passage from the White House (McGahn's office?) to the Senate, I am not at all confident of the cleanliness of.

The S.Ct. will back up anything and everything for Trump. Two Trump loyalists (Gorsuch & Kav.), coupled with Clarence Thomas & Alito (who both hate Democrats), then top it off with Roberts.... Roberts would become the most reasonable conservative on the S.Ct.

I am not expecting that there will be much in the report. They didn't interview Dr. Blasey Ford or Swetnick. All those people that came forward and said they were willing to talk to the FBI or make a statement under oath about Kavanaugh's drinking habits were turned away. Any leads/witnesses Deborah Ramirez gave the FBI weren't followed up on. Hell, they couldn't even ask Safeway to verify Judge's employment.
