Grassley releases letter detailing Kavanaugh sexual assault allegation

Source: The Hill

GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley (Iowa) on Sunday publicly released a letter that Christine Blasey Ford sent to Democratic lawmakers detailing her sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

The letter was released by Grassley's staff after they requested an unredacted version of it on Wednesday from Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who had referred the letter to the FBI but refused to release it publicly.

"As you know, the letter was given to me in confidence and I am giving it to you with the expectation that you will maintain its confidentiality and that it will not be released publicly or disseminated further, as requested by Dr. Blasey Ford's counsel Debra Katz," Feinstein wrote in a cover letter to Grassley that was also released on Sunday.

Feinstein has said she initially did not publicly discuss or disclose the letter, and for weeks did not bring it up with her colleagues, in an attempt to respect Ford's request for privacy.

don't send anything to anyone in Congress unless you want it to be made public. Not a good message.
