Democrats hold a 12-point lead over Republicans just more than six weeks ahead of the midterm congressional elections, according to a new poll.
Slightly more than half of registered voters -- 52 percent said in the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday that they preferred a Democratic-controlled Congress, compared to 40 percent who want Republicans to retain their majorities in the House and Senate.
NBC News noted that the Democrats 12-point lead is their highest this cycle. In August, they held an 8-point lead, 50 to 42 percent. Voters who are most likely to vote favor Democrats by 8 points in the new survey, 51 to 43 percent.
Pollsters also found that Republicans enthusiasm has drawn nearly even with Democrats.

Look at the exit polls in the last election. Hillary won those Hands down in the swing States and guess what?

(1,414 posts)to the staggering truth contained within your post. I think after the votes are counted this election, many are going to finally understand just how screwed we are. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I fear I'm right. I'm going to vote, that's for sure. I believe it to be my last act of defiance. But, honestly, I no longer have faith in this system, and I do not believe my vote means anything. I'm prepared, as Malcolm X put it, for the alternative to the ballot.

(6,148 posts)F*ck the polls. I want us to be down in the polls by about 2 percent, and determined to pull a Hail Mary pass.
I want us motivated and intent on winning, and it takes neck-in-neck polls to do that, so I want neck-and-neck polls.

(6,228 posts)Now let's get out there and vote in such huge numbers that the repubs will clearly see how they are viewed & not supported.

(43,166 posts)Dems often lead in polls on Labor Day, and usually revert to the mean afterward. So far we're not following that pattern. Fingers crossed, knock wood. If this holds we're going to flush Congress.

(133 posts)12 points doesn't mean so much. It is important, but the call should be fierce to get out the vote. Anyone who sits on their behind for the next six weeks should be ashamed. Get on the move people, even one new voter is important.

(6,148 posts)Sometimes it seems like Democratic voters will find all kinds of reasons not to go to the polls, while Republican voters are very steadfast.
This needs to change. Maybe this is the year.
