Supreme Court clears the way for Nebraskans to vote on Medicaid expansion

LINCOLN — The Nebraska Supreme Court on Wednesday cleared away the last obstacle to voters having a say on a Medicaid expansion proposal.

The state high court ruled against a lawsuit filed by former State Sen. Mark Christensen of Imperial and Sen. Lydia Brasch of Bancroft that sought to keep the measure off the Nov. 6 ballot.

The initiative already met the requirements for collecting petition signatures.

Supporters submitted almost 137,000 signatures of registered voters in early July. Last month, Secretary of State John Gale certified almost 105,000 signatures as valid, far more than the 84,000 required to put the measure before voters.

1. Nothing works better than actually allowing the voters a say in any legislation, eh?

Keep doing this (putting issues on the ballot) perhaps we can do away w/ all legislators...as technology gets better and better, it will get pushed out to the voting booth and perhaps may allow us better means of representation for all?

3. Now comes our inherited money governor

I'm sure he will fund through various means all kinds of television adverts trying to convince people to vote against this expansion. Knowing my state as I do, I would not be surprised at all if the expansion gets voted down. While they all go to church on Sunday.
