Levi Sanders, the son of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), lost his bid for one of New Hampshires two U.S. House seats.
The younger Sanders ran far behind the top vote-getters among the 11 Democrats seeking the partys nomination in Tuesdays primary for the open seat in the 1st Congressional District. He was considered a long-shot candidate in the race, having raised less than $40,000, according to Federal Election Commission filings. His residence in the states 2nd Congressional District also hindered his campaign.
Chris Pappas, a former state legislator and current member of the Executive Council that advises New Hampshires governor, won the Democratic race. He is vying to be the states first openly gay member of Congress.
Bernie Sanders, who as a fellow New Englander is popular in New Hampshire and won its 2016 Democratic presidential primary by more than 20 percentage points, did not endorse his son. He said in a statement early this year that the family does not believe in dynastic politics. Levi is running his own campaign in his own way.

See ya there - keep on going leftward, and keep on swinging!

(58,785 posts)1. Being the son of a senator.
2. Nevertheless having risen on his own to a socioeconomic level apparently similar to my own as a legal technical expert for government benefits.
3. His counterproductive but illuminating social media history.
Sanders' decision not to endorse him was an item of interest. No idea why, but #2 and 3 lead me to suspect it was in the best interests of the citizenry anyway.
Levi seems suited to his current useful work and socioeconomic level, which are nothing to despise. Best wishes to him.

There is nothing to despise in filling a role that is needed and useful.
From what i can tell Levi Sandrs didn't seriously campaign which makes me wonder what his end game plan may have been.

(58,785 posts)initially reading everything I could find, so didn't realize, but he didn't seem to be doing well from the beginning. Who knows? Maybe he discovered he just didn't want it enough to fight for it, lose, try try again, etcetera.
His father struggled and sacrificed literally for years before finally winning his first local election. I do hope he always understood Bernie wouldn't endorse him and they're okay with each other.
