Trump rips NFL, Nike in wake of Kaepernick ad

Source: The Hill

BY BRETT SAMUELS - 09/05/18 09:46 AM EDT

President Trump on Wednesday blasted the NFL and Nike after the latter featured free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick as the face of its latest ad campaign, prompting anger from some conservatives.

Trump told The Daily Caller on Tuesday that Nike sent a "terrible message" by using Kaepernick for its 30th anniversary of the "Just Do It" ad campaign.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback was the first NFL player to take a knee during the national anthem to protest social injustice, and has remained unsigned for nearly two years.

As numerous other players have continued to protest during the anthem, Trump has ripped the NFL. The president has called on protesting players to be fired, and suggested they don't belong in the country.

I know people who think that the NFL players kneeling is a real issue and they
both listen to Fox News and Russia all the time.

witness the national anthem debate (taking a knee)...
the bakery debacle (refusing to bake a cake for gays)...
freedom of the press and 1st amendment rights...
libel laws protect our authors from a so called president gone nuts...
we're constantly fighting Gerrymandered maps for elections that repugs use to ensure their stay in office...
we'll never rest, never stop in resisting this illegal administration put in power by the manipulation of votes by
the Russians...
more and more people are stepping up and stating that this is wrong and adding their voices too...

plummeting support of Independents is more than predictable, it is inevitable.

Free advertising for Nike? Maybe, but I give them the benefit of the doubt that they paid Colin his full contract for years because they wanted to do the right thing from the beginning.

Now, about those off shore low wage factories...

I think there are plenty of folks at Nike who support Kaep. However, it's far from a coincidence IMO that this campaign coincides with the opening of football season. Last year, football literally became a political football, and Dump will latch onto ANYTHING that lets him kick slop on brown people, especially now as the walls are closing in on his dumb ass.

I don't think this is a cynical move on their part, but I do think it was obvious that the campaign would be given a boost by President Shit-for-Brains.

I'd also be curious to see their market demographics. I wonder if, for instance, their customers skew to the left/younger/etc. I don't know that many MAGAts, but those I do would have no reason to own Nikes given that none of them exercise at all. That's obviously anecdotal and perhaps painting with too wide a brush, but I have to think that Nike would be smarter than alienating a big chunk of their customer base.

But, the ratings are not way down. Somebody print out the internet page and show him. Make him read it. Then he can STFU.

Four guys, THIS OFF SEASON, became the highest paid players at their position, EVER! Think owners that are losing money do that?

But, what would he know about running a successful business?

He says the New York Times and the Washington Post are failing. Ratings are down for the NFL. Roseanne had such great ratings he called to congratulate her.

He thinks in TV terms and instant gratification. He is a baby.

. . .NFL profits are still stratospheric, the NYT and WP both saw increases in circulation, particularly on-line and their ad rates went up.

For a person who was supposed to be a business mogul, he sure doesn't know how to interpret cash flow. Of course, that would explain going broke running a casino.
