In a historic victory, Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley unseated Rep. Mike Capuano, a progressive Congressional favorite first elected in 1998 in Massachusetts' seventh congressional district.
Capuano took the stage shortly after 9:15 p.m. and conceded the race.

(7,530 posts)All of our candidates are quality, and it happens less on our side that there's one voldemort/Roy Moore against a better person to settle for.
Just like there's no reason for Joe Crowley to shrivel up and die and leave politics just because Ocasio-Cortez won.
Football teams change their rosters and bench people for a quarter. It's a good strategy.
If new D faces can nab a surprise win from an incumbent D, they probably have enthusiasm and votes surrounding them to also nab a surprise win from an old R. Especially if everyone for incumbent D backs them up.
