McConnell: Sessions should stay as attorney general

Source: The Hill

BY JORDAIN CARNEY - 08/28/18 07:07 PM EDT

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is throwing his support behind Attorney General Jeff Sessions as some Republicans have opened the door to President Trump firing the top Justice Department official.

"Yes, I have total confidence in the attorney general; I think he ought to stay exactly where he is," McConnell told reporters on Tuesday, asked if he still supported the attorney general.

McConnell's comments backing Sessions — who served in the Senate for twenty years — mark the first time the Senate GOP leader has publicly weighed in since Trump restarted his feud with the attorney general late last week.

Speculation about Sessions's job security reached a fever pitch after GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) told reporters that it was likely Trump would pick a new attorney general after the midterms.

is focused on keeping your party in power and would throw the American people under a bus if that's what it would take to do it.

Maybe has been talking to Mueller all along, and trump may be paranoid , or found this out about him now, and like the White House lawyer, he's looking at replacements now. I also suspect there are may others talking to Mueller and have kept it from being exposed, and trump is desperately trying to find those talking to eliminate them from their positions, like he's done in the FBI. Anyone working to uncover putin , and russia and trump is open season on them to be fired with trumped up charges and accusations. He wants only loyalists that'll do as he demands without questions, and when they don't his attacks start up against them for removal. He wants to weaponize the DOJ for himself to use as another tool to destroy Democracy for putin with. He'll do the same to the military too, replacing them for absolute loyalists to him so he can have HIS military protect himself with when he escalates the threats against us, which he will. Just like with the DOJ, which he'll use it to criminalize anyone who won't bow down and kiss his feet, he'll go after with putin like tactics used to criminalize them with, Hillary is a clear example. He's doing the same things to businesses, shaking them down then demanding they do as he says or else he'll abuse his powers to hurt them for not being corrupt or loyal enough to him . Sessions is just one of many that refuse to protect him by ignoring the rule of law whenever he wants.

Sessions has lied multiple times in Congressional hearings and has been called on it but not "charged" for that due to who controls the committees (GOP). But since he had been very involved with (now-former) Russian Ambassador Kislyak (as Drumpf Foreign Policy adviser during the campaign) and others in the past, I expect he has probably been in touch other times since his initial interview with Mueller and crew and may be in some dire straits... but could be (my WAG speculation) someone offered an "immunity" deal in exchange for some deep dive info. Other than his directing the hurling of threats against cities for nonsense (most recently via Rosenstein oddly enough), he has been relatively media-quiet.

The very idea of this little prick sitting as attorney general raises my hackles. His latest move to attack rather than defend settled US law makes him a creature from hail and is grounds for removal. It is also grounds for disbarment. No ethical person would accept a job from T-rump and even those that are not so ethical know it would be tainted and an end to your carreer.
