KKK leader sentenced to four years in prison for firing gun during Aug. 12 rally

Richard Preston, a self-identified Ku Klux Klan leader from Maryland, will serve four years in prison for firing a gun during the Unite the Right rally.
On Tuesday, Preston, 53, was sentenced to eight years in prison with four years suspended for discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of The Park School. After he pleaded no contest in May, he faced a possible sentence of two to 10 years behind bars.
Preston had seen counter-protester Corey Long light an aerosol spray can as the rallying white supremacists exited what is now Market Street Park. Preston brandished a pistol at Long before lowering it again. Suddenly, he pulled the firearm up and aimed it in Longs direction. He fired the gun and, prosecutors said, the projectile hit the dirt near Longs feet but did not injure him.
On Monday, Long appealed his guilty verdict on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge related to the use of the improvised flamethrower.

(951 posts)I'm happy that this idiot got what he deserved.
I also think it is very amusing that there is a human on Earth appealing a guilty verdict on his misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge via use of an improvised flamethrower. That is a thing that has now happened in the history of the world.
You shot flames and disturbed the peace! Sounds like a wizard misdemeanor.

The cops didn't protect the residents of Charlotteville against the outside alt-right agitators, so residents protected one another. LOng should not ahve been convicted.

Thank you for sharing more about Mr. Long! I was merely commenting on the strangeness of the whole situation, but I hope his appeal is successful! Anyone fighting off Nazis from the elderly is ok in my book!
