Trump advisor touts Sprint, T-Mobile deal while denying lobbying
Source: Reuters
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Corey Lewandowski, President Donald Trumps former campaign manager, touted on Wednesday benefits he sees in federal government approval of T-Mobile US Incs bid to acquire Sprint Corp, while also denying that he has worked directly for the company.
If the T-Mobile deal is going to move forward because its going to create better 5G coverage in rural areas and create more jobs in the marketplace and help grow and compete with a competitive China, then without any hesitation I say we should have more jobs, we should be more competitive, Lewandowski said on Wednesday at an event sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor. I have no idea what the Justice Department does on it. I havent spoken to anyone at the Justice Department on it.
U.S. antitrust enforcers have started reviewing T-Mobiles plan to buy Sprint for $26 billion, and have reached no conclusions on how many wireless carriers the country needs. The two companies compete against AT&T and Verizon to provide U.S. wireless service.
Lewandowski is among those advising the No. 3 wireless company on its deal as it prepares for what should be a tough regulatory review process, the mobile provider said in a statement in May.

Drain the Swamp!

(8,916 posts)T-Mobile is a German based company while Sprint is a US based company.
When a merger, this big, happens, there will be redundancies.
So that Sprint store in the same plaza as the T-Mobile store, will
have to close its doors. And thats at the lowest level.
Production lines will be redundant at all levels including
management, along with some upper management personnel.
Also, Sprint uses CDMA technology while T-Mobile uses GSM
technology, so Sprint phones will not be compatible with T-Mobile.
Ive never seen mergers on this scale create more jobs, ever!
And this is just for starters.

(10,279 posts)we know this:
1. The senior corporate officers and Directors will get huge bonuses for being smart enough to convince regulators that this benefits all. The brokers will get hefty commissions. Lewie do very well.
2. The stock holders will get extra dough for voting "yes" to wreck their companies.
3. The customers will pay the costs for joining two companies that really cannot be combined economically to produce a new efficient company.
4. The managers and workers get screwed. And the damage to their careers will continue for years as they are saddled with the blame for failing to mate right-hand thread bolts with left-hand nuts.
This action is just another way to shear the consumers.

(10,303 posts)My Moto G5+ can work on Sprint or T-Mobile. Except for super cheap phones, a lot of phones are sold that can handle both GSM and CDMA. But all carriers in the USA now are all on LTE. Where there are differences now is in what LTE bands are included on the phone. If Sprint and T-Mobile merge, phones they sell will have to support both Sprint's and T-Mobiles frequencies.
What might make sense is if Sprint sold all its hardware, frequencies, etc to T-Mobile and Sprint continues as a virtual mobile network operator. The Sprint stores can remain, the customer service remains. Sprint ends up being T-Mobile USA's biggest customer.
But an outright T-Mobile purchase of Sprint and absorbing it's brands and every thing into T-Mobile is dangerous for jobs.

(8,916 posts)it also can handle both CDMA and GSM.
Not all iPhones or cell phones in general can do that.
Sprint's phones are notoriously nefarious phones and will literally not work on any other system.
They do sell phones that can hand their US CDMA Network and the International GSM Network
but only through the Sprint's GSM network.
You can't purchase any sim card from a different carriers and expect them to work on a Sprint
phone. That's been my experience.
