Randy Bryce wins Democratic primary for Paul Ryan's seat

Ironworker Randy Bryce cruised to victory Tuesday, using his hefty fundraising advantage, high-profile endorsements and viral video fame to defeat Janesville School Board member Cathy Myers in the 1st Congressional District Democratic primary.

Bryce will take on Bryan Steil, a lawyer and former staffer for House Speaker Paul Ryan, in November, when Democrats will try to flip the southeastern Wisconsin district after 20 years of conservative control.

"Together, we will return this seat to the people," Bryce told supporters Tuesday night at the Reefpoint Brew House in Racine. "We took a stand. We fought back. Together we made our voice heard, and the GOP is running scared, with good reason."

But while Ryan’s retirement is fueling Democratic hopes for a "blue wave" in the conservative-leaning district, Bryce warned the crowd at his victory party that the fight is not yet over.

I think the rE-THUGS will show up to vote because they are running SCARED. They know deep down that they have made another mistake AGAIN. The EVIL that is in their little heart has not departed. I am glad I live in a state where the GOP is a minority. Their selection of a hollywood face does not mean a normal brain......Not since IKE has there been WINNER who tried to do GOOD......
