Stephen Miller Is A Product of "Chain Migration," His Uncle Says

Source: Vox

3 hrs. ago by Emily Stewart.

Stephen Miller, the senior policy adviser to the president and one of the ideologues pushing the administration’s hardline immigration policies, is a product of the so-called “chain migration” he and President Donald Trump often deride. That’s according to his uncle, who penned an essay in Politico outlining Miller’s family’s immigration story on Monday.

David Glosser, a retired neuropsychologist and Miller’s uncle on his mother’s side, detailed the story of how the family came to live in the United States. Miller’s great-great-grandfather Wolf-Leib Glosser left the village of Antopol in what is now Belarus amid “violent anti-Jewish pogroms” there and came to the US. He landed on Ellis Island in 1903 and, over time, was able to bring over the rest of his family.

Through that generation and the next, the family built a chain of supermarkets and discount department stores run by Miller’s great-grandfather and his grandfather Izzy. The family eventually became American citizens. It’s the type of “chain migration” — or family-based migration — that immigration hardliners, including Miller, say they hate.

“I have watched with dismay and increasing horror as my nephew, who is an educated man and well aware of his heritage, has become the architect of immigration policies that repudiate the very foundation of our family’s life in this country,” Glosser wrote...More...

The essay by Glosser is in part a rejection of the immigration policies his nephew supports and at the same time a plea for him to reconsider: "I shudder at the thought of what would have become of the Glossers had the same policies Stephen so coolly espouses — the travel ban, the radical decrease in refugees, the separation of children from their parents, and even talk of limiting citizenship for legal immigrants — been in effect when Wolf-Leib made his desperate bid for freedom.
The Glossers came to the US just a few years before the fear and prejudice of the “America First” nativists of the day closed U.S. borders to Jewish refugees. Had Wolf-Leib waited, his family would likely have been murdered by the Nazis along with all but seven of the 2,000 Jews who remained in Antopol. I would encourage Stephen to ask himself if the chanting, torch-bearing Nazis of Charlottesville, whose support his boss seems to court so cavalierly, do not envision a similar fate for him."

Miller, 32, is a fierce proponent of restricting both legal and illegal immigration to the United States. Jane Coaston of Vox writes, he was passionate about the subject even in high school and bonded over the matter with his former boss, then-Sen. Jeff Sessions. Miller designed the initial version of Trump’s travel ban and agreed with former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon when in a March 2016 radio interview Bannon complained that the number of immigrants in the country is a “massive problem.”

If his ancestors had not migrated from Belorussia. They would most likely have fallen to Einsatzgruppe B, the roaming precursors to the death camps.

Einsatzgruppe B, 1941

By A. M. ROSENTHAL

In early July 1941, a unit of the German Army called Einsatzgruppe B moved out from Poland into Germany's new conquest, the province of Byelorussia, in the Soviet Union.

The Einsatzgruppen were mobile squads of the Schutzstaffel, or SS, serving in the German Army. They specialized in running concentration camps and conquered territory. Their officers had been briefed on June 17, five days before the German attack on the Soviet Union.

The briefing was at the Berlin headquarters of Reinhard Heydrich, head of the Reich Security Main Office. The officers were instructed on their mission and assignments, chief among them liquidating all Jews.

Incredible hypocrisy and maladjusted behavior and thinking.

In the Rhineland Campaign and Occupation my father had encounters with the SS and other Nazis. During college he gave me his wartime memorabilia and the reminders are still strong.

(Huff Post) A photo of Nison (aka Max) Miller stares out from the screen, sullen and stern, in faded black and white. “Order of Court Denying Petition” is the title of the government form dated “14th November 1932,” to which it is attached, the one in which Miller is applying for naturalization as an American citizen. And beneath the photo, the reason given for his denial: Ignorance.
Nison Miller is the great-grandfather of White House adviser Stephen Miller, who has taken credit for being one of the chief architects of the administration’s family separation policy. And this 85-year-old document is just one bit of ammunition in a campaign being waged by the unofficial band that goes by the hashtag #Resistance Genealogy.

Believing that the past is prologue, they search online archives for nuggets about the ancestors of public figures and politicians who disparage today’s immigrants. They use tools they developed as a personal hobby to make the point that people like Miller are holding newcomers to a standard that their own forebears could not meet.

[Congressman STEVE KING history] “Unless your ancestors came on a slave ship or you’re Native American,” you came here as an immigrant, says Jennifer Mendelsohn, who created the #resistancegenealogy hashtag last summer after Republican congressman Steve King or Iowa was quoted as saying “We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies.” So she went on a genealogy website and quickly documented that King’s own grandmother was one such baby, arriving in 1894 from Germany as a 4-year-old, along with her infant siblings. -More, https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/stephen-miller-great-grandfather-naturalization_us_5b2ba35ae4b0040e27403e42

Every single word spoken by any Democrat or liberal will be required to be absolutely perfectly true and accurate or that person will be forced to go away forever.

NOTHING any con says or does has to be true, decent, even patriotic, they can do or say anything.

Oh, and the media tells the truth but they are the enemy. I was listening to that comedian, by accident, the one who says "getterrdone" does the CARS movies, forgot his name, he said the reason we have division is the news media

He is right (not for the reason he thinks, however), the non fox media that tells the truth is why we are divided, HE and his side dont want the truth to be told because it is inconvenient and causes them to hate us, for the obvious reasons.

So yes, the truth causes righty to be divided from patriotism.

he had no choice but to teach at a "colored" school back then but he was their first black principal. In fact even my own mother, who had a Polisci & Sec Ed degree, couldn't teach high school in the Philadelphia public school system in the 1950s (black teachers were forced into the elementary schools even if they had passed the exams and had certifications for high school), so she opted to leave that and work for the state and later the city as a social worker.

It's because of crap like that, the "more recent" immigrants look aghast at blacks here in the U.S., completely ignorant of the laws that kept us back and suppressed for so long. Some are now finally learning the lessons of how bigotry can manifest.

Perhaps Miller can be sent to Antarctica to experience climate change up close and personal.

the true long history of systemic oppression and racism here, whether new or in America many generations. In schools it's mostly omitted and there are few programs on the Tee Vee although Skip Gates PBS shows are great. And there have been some excellent movies especially on black culture and lives in more recent years.

I wish your mother could have taught at the level she was trained for, rotten discrimination policies then. Your people were quite accomplished like many black folks to be sure. And in that period plenty of people of all backgrounds didn't go beyond 8th grade if that, for various reasons. ~ We're going through a weird, ugly period but I have to keep hope that things start to change for the better..

Mon Aug 13, 2018, 07:17 PM

His older brother was already in New York City. When Frederick Trump originally emigrated from Bavaria, he lived with his older brother's family and worked as a barber. Later Frederick Trump went west and ran restaurant/hotel/brothels in Seattle and the Yukon. That is where the family money started.

Frederick traveled back to Bavaria, married a much younger woman and took her back to New York City with him. She hated New York and the US so they attempted to move back to the old country. That is when the German government rejected his effort to start over in his home town because he had evaded his mandatory military service when he first left at the age of sixteen.

The Wikipedia article is more in depth but some of which I related above is from an article I read some time ago - I don't remember which one.

Melanie and her parents are a product of chain migration...hypocrites. The fucking moron's great grandfather came to the US because he was evading the draft in Germany and skipped town in the night leaving his mother a note. When he tried to return to Germany years later they said, "Nein!" They kept records and knew why he left so he had to return to the US. They are 100% hypocrites as are most of the GOP and his cult.

Jake Trapper is covering this story now and mentioned Melanie's parents too. He wonders if they are hypocrites.
