John Kasich: GOP Candidate Said He Didn't Invite Trump To Ohio Rally

Trump headlined a Saturday rally for Troy Balderson ahead of a closely watched Tuesday House election.
By Nina Golgowski

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) on Sunday suggested that President Donald Trump appeared at a campaign rally in his state on Saturday without a direct invitation from the House candidate he came to tout.

Kasich, speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” said he asked state Sen. Troy Balderson, the Republican candidate for a U.S. House seat in a Tuesday special election, point blank why he invited Trump to campaign for him at his event in Delaware County.

“I asked him the other day, ‘Why are you bringing Trump in,’ said Kasich, who has been one of the GOP’s harshest critics of the president. Kasich said Balderson told him, “Well, I don’t have anything to do with it.”

“I think Donald Trump decides where he wants to go,” Kasich said of the president’s appearance, where after introducing Balderson and praising him, he then focused of his own agenda and his litany of complaints about the media.

Nobody wants him around, but he's such a boor you know he'll make a scene if you point out he wasn't invited.

There are certainly some GOPers, especially those in possible swing districts, who don't want him to campaign for them and get his cooties on them. But he'll show up anyhow because his black hole of an ego needs the applause.

It's looking like he's starting to become radioactive within his own party. Which is kind of stunning, since most of what's left of the GOP at this point is Trump cultists.

I have worked on a couple of congressional campaigns as a volunteer for the Democrats in my county. If POTUS is coming, there is no way that the congressional candidate is not made aware of that. It. Doesn't. Happen.

The Secret Service would not allow Donald to just show up.

They would make advance preparations.

Kasich is dostancing himself from Trump, balderson wants his cake and to eat it, too.

One one hand they can say we didn’t invite Trump, to his cultist base they can say Trump was here for me.

The only good thing is the Columbus area is filled with well educated voters. But the previous Republican resigned because of scandal.

hardly anything would be more satisfying than him showing up a a Repug's rally and the candidate telling him to pack his sorry ass back to Washington.
