Washington’s Metro rail system, the city’s subway line, is reportedly considering providing separate trains for those attending the white supremacist “Unite The Right” rally in Washington, D.C. next weekend, according to the Washington Post.

Metro board chairman Jack Evans, who is a city council member, said the move would be a preventive measure to avoid violence between the white supremacist rallygoers and counter protesters.

“We haven’t made any decisions about anything,” Evans said about conversations he has had with Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld and D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham. “We’re just trying to come up with potential solutions on how to keep everybody safe.”

But one of the plans Evans has suggested would explicitly protect white supremacists.

There's no shortage of them; there will be plenty of Metrobuses available on the weekend. The supervisors can drive. That's what they're getting paid to do. Metro is an equal opportunity transit system. If you have the money, you get to ride.

And let's not spray paint swastikas on the side of the Metrorail cars, okay? I get handed the bill to clean those off. If the Nazis want to see swastikas, they can go over to the Department of Agriculture. The buildings are wrapped in bands of them.

Metro is no longer considering running separate trains for protesters participating in the Aug. 12 “Unite the Right” white nationalists rally in the District, the transit agency’s board chairman said Saturday.

Metro Board Chairman Jack Evans had previously said that running a separate train was among options being weighed by officials.

“Metro will not be providing a special train or special car for anyone next Sunday,” Evans said.
