Ex-leader of state's GOP says he killed dog on God's command

Source: Associated Press

Updated 9:52 am CDT, Friday, August 3, 2018

SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say the former head of South Carolina's Republican Party told them that he killed his mother's dog because God told him to and that he was the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Todd Kincannon, 37, was arrested last week after he choked, stabbed, and mutilated his mother's 10-year-old beagle mix at her Greenville county home, news outlets reported. Kincannon reportedly told Simpsonville police officers that he killed the dog because, "I'm the second coming of Christ and I got a command from God to do it."

Officers who responded to the July 26 call said Kincannon came out of his parents' home wearing only his underwear and was covered in blood and dog hair. According to one officer, Kincannon said "that every 1,000 years there needs to be a sacrifice and blood must be spilt."

An incident report noted that Kincannon held up injuries to his arm and wrist - which an officer said were likely from a dog bite - and said, "I have a sign. I'm about to get crucified in the media."

Supreme Court Drops Hammer On Todd Kincannon
Published 3 years ago on August 29, 2015

EX-SCGOP LEADER, SOCIAL MEDIA PROVOCATEUR SUSPENDED FROM PRACTICING LAW AFTER “MAJOR MELTDOWN”
|| By FITSNEWS || The S.C. Supreme Court has suspended the law license of Columbia, S.C. attorney, former SCGOP official and social media provocateur extraordinaire Todd Kincannon after he allegedly suffered a “major meltdown” this week. Not only that, the court has placed Kincannon on “incapacity inactive status” and assigned his client’s files and financial accounts to another attorney.

News of the suspension/ transfer was posted to the court’s website on Friday afternoon.

What happened? According to sources at the court’s Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC), Kincannon’s meltdown occurred during a court appearance this week. Following this alleged incident, the self-described “honey badger of American politics” is said to have sent “multiple emails and facsimile messages” reportedly containing “menacing language and images” to a variety of different recipients.

Among the images? Pictures of Kincannon with a gun pointed to his head.

He wasn't exactly nice before, of course, but he must have been very dynamic and talented. I wouldn't wish schizophrenia (?) on anyone. The person he once was is gone. Dreadful.

He certainly deserves it.

(I'm anti DP, actually, so I would be content with him merely being flogged to within an inch of his life)

Now, those of us old enough to remember, can recall that the Devil (Yup, Old Satan himself) told Son of Sam to kill people. He took over Berkowitz's neighbor's dog's soul and the dog then gave directions to Berkowitz to do horrible stuff that David would never have thought of to do on his own.

So God may have been taking precautions in this instance.

So, intitutionalize him. Or jail him if he's declared fit.
Either way he shouldn't be loose in public.

"In 2015, Kincannon was charged with criminal domestic violence after threatening to kill himself, his wife, and her family. Later that year, his law license was suspended following threatening emails he sent to people in connection with that arrest.

In connection to the 2015 case, a grand jury indicted Kincannon on domestic violence and kidnapping charges last year. Both charges are still pending."

Why are charges from 2015 still "pending"?

This guy was clearly mentally distrubed and he should have been treated long before this. I love dogs and this hurts me so much to read but this could have easily been his family too or anyone else. It has nothing to do with him being in the GOP, despite his previous crazy rantings he's not a racist or homophobic, he's mentally ill. It's not his upbringing or his environment it's a disease. I hope he gets treatment and if he can't be controlled then he needs to be put somewhere so he isn't a threat to anyone.

In the environment which was comfortable for him he was not viewed as bizarre, sociopathic.

There's a little more involved here than villifying the G.O.P.

The political culture we live in makes it more acceptable for the groups he targeted to be hated on, if you're going to have delusions of paranoia or grandeur, if they about people with dark skin, 'deviant' sexual orientations, or that one religion as opposed to people who are left handed or have red hair then people will excuse your delusions as 'free speech' and being 'politically incorrect'.

Yeah, his politics suck and no doubt he is a racist homophobe.

But he appears to have a serious mental illness and I hope he seeks and gets help.

That photo with the gun to his head...chilling. Especially since he has his finger on the trigger.

I know some here disagree but I can’t sink to the level of hoping a person with mental illness commits suicide.
