A tornado briefly touched down in Queens Thursday evening, the National Weather Service said Friday.
The NWS confirmed a weak EF0 twister touched down near St. Fidelis Catholic Church in the College Point section, traveling a path three-quarters of a mile long and 100 yards wide. At least 50 trees were taken down.
The sudden tornado warning late Thursday night for Queens, the Bronx and Nassau County sent people running for cover as wild storms tore across the tri-state area.
