A South Carolina hair salon was vandalized with hateful graffiti about Mexicans, WSPA.com reported.

The longtime owner of Rosa’s Hair Salon was informed by a neighbor Tuesday that her Easley hair salon had been spray painted with anti-Mexican graffiti, according to foxcarolina.com.

“Go Back to Mexico and Take Drug Cartel Murder Culture With You,” was spray painted in four different locations on the business owned by Cabrera, who is a U.S. citizen born in Cuba, WYFF-4.com reported.

The glass door at the front of the building was also shattered according to the Easley Police Department, which is investigating the vandalism of the business that has been open for more than 20 years, according to foxcarolina.com.

And the last murder by a MS-13 gang member in the US was over 2 years ago.

We can state things like that in public, but there has to be evidence to support it or we do more harm, than good, to our cause.

I'm not arguing to be a jerk, we really need facts on our side. The right has demonstrated that they're willing to manufacture their own "facts'. We, on the left, have to make sure our facts are (as Marisa Tomei says in 'My Cousin Vinny') "dead on balls accurate".

But it's also true, MS-13 has an origin that is both in and outside of the United States in the 80's under Reagan, it was not, according to Trump and his supporters, created by Obama just a couple of years ago.

I think our problem is we have a clarification complex... We want to make a claim stating X, but we apparently need expert opinions, we need photographic and video evidence, we need polls, we need peer reviewed papers, we need eyewitness testimony, and then we'll get together and convene a panel and if we agree that claim X is true and wait 4 to 6 weeks, then we can claim it.

Meanwhile, the right wing says MS-13 is an existential threat to the US, John Brennan is a secret Muslim, and Hillary Clinton personally murdered scores of people without doing any of these things before we need to make a claim... and they win elections.

Here's the thing, as a scientist, I agree with you that facts are important and it would be nice if that's the way the world worked, but it's not. Because as an activist, I've learned that the world and political power is less about WHAT you say and more about HOW you say it; shouting down your opponent, making exaggerated but still true claims, seeking narratives from many angles, and more.

We're playing debate team in high school, while the right wants to be the school shooter. We need to realize this.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS-13

Mara Salvatrucha (MS), also known as MS-13 (the 13 representing their Sureño affiliation), is an international criminal gang that originated in Los Angeles, California, in the 1980s. The gang later spread to many parts of the continental United States, Canada, Mexico, and Central America, and is active in urban and suburban areas. Most members are of Central American origin, principally El Salvador.

...

The NYPD said that MS-13 were responsible for 17 murders between January 2016 and April 2016 in Long Island

The whole entry is rather long and give a lot of history. As near as I can tell, the last murder in the US was in January of 2017, but you can take a look for yourself at the article.

And yes, I should have included some verification in my post. It was something that I heard on (I think TRMS) one of the MSNBC or CNN news programs.

I'll give it a read through. I know Trump and his minions lie through their teeth about everything. I first heard about MS-13 around 8-10 years ago, and from what I've read they are (or at least were) fairly widespread throughout the U.S. One case in particular jarred me into consciousness about them, and that occurred to a young woman in Atlanta. It was particularly brutal, and I believe it was just because she had knowledge of other gang activities. It was quite a while ago.

Again, thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

BTW, I've included what you said here, my group is collecting the quotes of people telling the truth about MS-13.

sounds like some racist is suggesting a nice vacation for US citizens who are not from Mexico.

I hear it's great this time of year. Fewer deplorables there.
