(206,034 posts)An eleventh person was rescued on Tuesday from a flooded Thai cave complex where 12 boys and their soccer coach were trapped for more than two weeks, raising hopes all 13 would be out by the end of the day.
A Reuters witness saw three people being carried out of the Tham Luang cave on stretchers. They were the firstto be taken out on Tuesday, the third day of the rescue operation.
Eight of the boys were brought out on stretchers over the first two days four on Sunday and four on Monday.
Officials were not immediately available to comment on who had been brought out.
The head of the operation, Narongsak Osottanakorn, said earlier the final operation would be more challenging because one more survivor would be brought out, along with three Navy SEALs who have been accompanying them.

(34,120 posts)I was so certain we were going to have a major, horrifying tragedy to mourn on top of the terrifying increasing loss of our country.
I am so happy to see this. I am not a believer nor do I actually believe in miracles much but this is truly inspiring. After all the rotten news lately this has given me hope that even if I am gone and don't see it happen there is a way for the peoples of this world to eventually fight off those who would seek to rule us all unkindly.
International cooperation with the end game a rescue of a few among many. We do care, we all do, all of us except the few who want to destroy this kind of kindness and generosity. That had to be one terrifying journey and so many made it so often risking themselves to help these few. It is inspiring. YAY! I will have a feel good today unlike how I felt last night when all seemed dim. Today is a good, wonderful day. Back to the rest after they are all safe and sound.

One man died in this heroic rescue, but it's so often what way. It's who people are.

(129,491 posts)They literally had to maneuver and swim 2.5 miles through tunnels to get out and none of the boys knew how to swim. There was a map in a post in an earlier thread over the weekend -
Truly miraculous indeed and a credit to the nation of Thailand and all the divers and people working around the clock.

Hopefully all will be well for the 25-year-old assistant coach who took them into the cave. It was a bad mistake, but thank goodness he was there with them.

This undated photo, released via the Thailand Navy SEAL Facebook page, shows rescuers with their hands locked. The caption said, "We Thai and the international teams join forces to bring the young Wild Boars home."
