LePage vetoes Medicaid expansion funding 4 days before people can apply to enroll

Source: Portland Press Herald

Gov. Paul LePage vetoed a $60 million Medicaid expansion funding bill Friday, an expected move that sets up a veto override vote by lawmakers when they return on July 9.

LePage said in a statement Friday evening that he vetoed the bill, passed by the Legislature last week, because lawmakers acted in a fiscally irresponsible manner.

“We cannot allow bills to move forward that will harm the economy,” the governor said.

LePage’s veto came as advocates for the voter-approved expansion have been urging the 70,000 Mainers who may be eligible for the government-funded health insurance program to start signing up for it beginning Monday.

It was because the left and far left of Maine split the vote. Twice.

Do the citizens of Maine not realize that most Medicaid funding goes to help former working class folk who have exhausted their savings, sold their homes and have no other option?

Then it drops down to 90% after 2020. So what is LePage complaining about in regards to it's harmful to their economy?

It's harmful to the Republican idea of being cruel to poor people who need to see a doctor, that's what. Plain and simple. They are pure evil.

The cruelty alone is staggering. What is it with the Trumpistas and the alt right? They seem actually to enjoy the harm they do to people's lives. The more harm, and the more people harmed (as long as it's not themselves), the better. It's sick as well as evil.
