Pentagon Asked to Prepare Housing for Up to 20,000 Migrant Children
Source: NY Times
WASHINGTON The Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday asked the Pentagon to make preparations to house as many as 20,000 unaccompanied migrant children on American military bases, a United States official said.
New, makeshift detention facilities are being envisioned to house thousands of immigrant families that are crossing illegally into the United States following President Trumps executive order on Wednesday, which called for detaining parents and children together instead of separating them.
The request comes as federal agencies on Thursday offered competing and contradictory explanations of what was happening to immigrant families in the hours after Mr. Trumps order, leaving it unclear where families were being held and whether they were being prosecuted.
Speaking on the Senate floor, Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York, questioned how such a plan to house 20,000 children could work. Is it even feasible? he asked.

(21,664 posts)It's one thing to have a monster as head of state, as a kind of temporary fluke.
It's another thing altogether to have said monster have 30-40% of the population behind him, egging him on to be more and more extreme.

Refugee camps; call them refugees, and "refugee camp" isn't far from what's put on the ground.

Need Evidence, look no further that Iraq,Afghanistan,Jordan,Turkey, and of Course Palestine. Military operations are linear in nature and they know only how to run Prison Camps.

(34,661 posts)anything associated with Interment Camps. There is a few of us who had first hand knowledge of or had family members touched by this. I know, that was 75 years ago or for the Vietnamese ant Thialanders, forty years ago.
So,it appears our Media does not want to remind our country just how ugly it can get. I guess it does not sell soap.

(3,503 posts)Because the Defense Department is the only federal agency that isn't required to follow general accounting principles. They don't have to account for any money so you'll never be able to track what's being spent. You criticize military practices and the right-wing will accuse you of (insert cliche here). I always have that Billy Joel verse in my mind when I hear someone shouting down anyone who questions our military (They threw an American Flag in our face...).

(23,156 posts)Are they going to start kidnapping brown babies/children already living in the US to put them there? Sure sounds that way, unless they plan indefinite detention forever for the parents and children and not even resolving any of the cases? With these evil cruel assholes, there is no lower limit to what they would do to hurt brown/black peoople. How long before they start in on the rest of us, jailing us and our children for failure to worship Herr Furor????
