Toddlers Separated From Parents at the Border Are Being Detained in 'Tender Age' Shelters

Source: Time

Trump administration officials have been sending babies and other young children forcibly separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border to at least three "tender age" shelters in South Texas, The Associated Press has learned.

Lawyers and medical providers who have visited the Rio Grande Valley shelters described play rooms of crying preschool-age children in crisis. The government also plans to open a fourth shelter to house hundreds of young migrant children in Houston, where city leaders denounced the move Tuesday.

The United Nations, some Democratic and Republican lawmakers and religious groups have sharply criticized the policy, calling it inhumane.

The three centers — in Combes, Raymondville and Brownsville — have been rapidly repurposed to serve needs of children including some under 5. A fourth, planned for Houston, would house up to 240 children in a warehouse previously used for people displaced by Hurricane Harvey, Mayor Sylvester Turner said.

We should call it what it is! And if so-called journalists call these jail cells Tender Age Shelters, they are fuc#ing culpable.

Let's call them what they really are: concentration camps. I'm so sickened and ashamed that this is happening in America. We are supposed to be better than this. Trump and his cronies and enablers are monstrous.

From "Florida Dem Lawmakers Denied Entry To Facility Housing 1,000 Migrant Children" thread here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/10142088218

Original story at TPM: https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/florida-bill-nelson-debbie-wasserman-schultz-denied-entry-migrant-children-facility

Quote:

Nelson and U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, both Florida Democrats, went to the contractor-run Homestead Temporary Shelter for Unaccompanied Children following reports it was receiving detained migrant children who had arrived in the country illegally.

Wasserman Schultz said the facility was being used for an estimated 1,000 children, aged 13 to 17, who arrived here as unaccompanied minors as well as children separated from their families at the border. She said two other facilities in South Florida were being used for younger children.

I wonder how many more prisons for babies are scattered across our country?

from a May report by Business Insider:

The US Health and Human Services Department said it was holding 10,773 migrant children in custody as of Tuesday — up 21% from the 8,886 it said it was holding a month earlier.

take them in? There is so much darkness moving into this country.

I'm seeing a trend toward a globalist gentrification in the Americas. It will strip the land base of its assets after driving out its inhabitants. It will ignore land "inhabitants" (anyone not a mill/billionaire like themselves), stigmatize any who seek life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

Such similar gentry cohort behavior beats down la gente de Venezuela, Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico y otras partes where "the browns" live.

Without saying a word about "thinning the herd," there's no more western civilization. Just trump camps, paper towels. Forced impoverishment of third world labor pools.

Starting with innocent, malleable children.

Sorry to be so jaded, but since it was revealed that this policy was discussed right after his inauguration, I have to wonder............
