Pompeo criticizes ‘insulting and ridiculous and, frankly, ludicrous’ question

BY JULIA MANCHESTER - 06/13/18 02:17 PM EDT

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blasted a reporter on Wednesday after the journalist asked why the denuclearization of North Korea was not included in an agreement signed between the country's leader, Kim Jong Un, and President Trump.

“The president said it will be verified," the reporter said to Pompeo in South Korea, to which Pompeo responded, "Of course it will."

"Can you tell us a little bit more about what is, what is — what discussed about how," the reporter continued.
“Just so you know, you could ask me this, I find that question insulting and ridiculous and, frankly, ludicrous," Pompeo said. "I just have to be honest with you, it’s a game and one ought not to play games with serious matters like this."

Reporter: “The president said it will be verified.”

Pompeo: “Of course it will.”

Q: "Can you tell us a little bit more about--what is, what discussed about how?"

Pompeo: “Just so you know, you could ask me this, I find that question insulting & ridiculous & frankly ludicrous.”

3. It's insulting, ridiculous and, frankly, ludicrous to ask about the state of the Emperor's clothes

when everyone can see they are new. And, frankly, the most sumptuous apparel that any Emperor has ever worn. And can I just say how well he wears them? Hubba hubba. Take a good look at the clothes today, boys, because I bet Melanie is going to be ripping them off him tonight. Now, please will the Imperial Press Corps sack the reporter responsible for that question which was an insult to my massive Secretarial brain? Have some dignity, for God-Emperor's sake. Like me.

6. That's a fairly basic question. We've got Dear Leader (ours, not theirs) tweeting that we're all

safe now that he's magically denuked North Korea when everyone knows he's just one demented tweet away from getting us all blown to smithereens at any given moment. It's only a matter of time before Kim does something that incurs the wrath of Almighty Don and we'll be back to square one.

7. We are so far down the rabbit hole now . . .

Why can't another reporter follow up with "Why is that such a ridiculous question?" And when he/she is shut down another one picks up with "Why is it so difficult to answer this question without insulting the questioner?"

MSM has no spine -- except for Jim Acosta, Peter Alexander (who seem to shout out with Sarah Hucksterbee Sanders) and a few others who write and steer clear of the toxic press conferences.

What does it take?

They should be directed at Trump. Perhaps that was the real source of his ire.

Because the Devil is in the details. Pompeo deflecting by taking offense is fucking pitiful and transparent.

Let's revisit what Mr. Eco has to say on the topic of language:

14. Ur-Fascism speaks Newspeak. Newspeak was invented by Orwell, in 1984, as the official language of Ingsoc, English Socialism. But elements of Ur-Fascism are common to different forms of dictatorship. All the Nazi or Fascist schoolbooks made use of an impoverished vocabulary, and an elementary syntax, in order to limit the instruments for complex and critical reasoning. But we must be ready to identify other kinds of Newspeak, even if they take the apparently innocent form of a popular talk show.

13. It's a legitimate, key question & Pompeo can't handle it. We can't trust tRump to verify a dictator

Insult Trudeau is okay but don't dare "insult" (not) a Trumpista?

The Trumpistas are weak if they blow up at legitimate questions.

They do not know how to verify NK denuclearization. They just don't know. Especially tRump.
