Judge gives Manafort team until Friday to reply to witness tampering allegation

A federal judge gave former Trump presidential campaign chairman Paul Manafort until Friday to respond to prosecutors’ allegations that he attempted to tamper with witnesses in his conspiracy and money laundering case.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson of the District of Columbia set a June 15 hearing to weigh prosecutors’ demand that she revoke or tighten the terms of Manafort’s release while he is pending trial. Manafort, 69, has been on home detention.

Prosecutors with special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation accused Manafort and a longtime associate they linked to Russian intelligence of repeatedly contacting two members of a public relations firm and asking them to falsely testify about secret lobbying they did at Manafort’s behest.

Manafort was asking the contacts, prosecutors contend, to say the lobbying was done in Europe and not in the U.S. Among the charges Manafort faces is that he failed to properly register with U.S. officials as a lobbyist for foreign interests.

If ever there were people who deserve the terrible, swift sword of justice, it is this raft of traitors.

Alas--to paraphrase malaise who commented on a related matter--"time is longer than rope. And they're about out of rope. Time is catching up with them."

If Trump had never run for president I have doubts that much of this would have never seen the light of day and they could have gone on indefinitely with their treasonous behavior. While Trump is spending his time trashing the Eagles' Football players, his associates are involved in treacherous acts that he fails to even acknowledge. I really don't know how this will end, but it can't be good. It appears that Trumps associates are just common thugs and no better than the mafia gangsters. We know Trumps history. He is just a nasty charlatan and conman that has bilked thousands. This entire affair is disgusting and disheartening. Its like Diogenes futile search for an honest man. I don't believe that their is one damn person in this administration who isn't a crook, liar, and all around first class scoundrel.

It's amost anyways the cover-up more than the actual crime that really nails them.

He must respond in writing by this Friday, June 8. Then a hearing is scheduled on June 15 based both on Mueller's filing and Manafort's response.
