Trump marks Memorial Day with Twitter video
BY KYLE BALLUCK - 05/28/18 07:44 AM EDT
President Trump marked Memorial Day with a video posted to Twitter early Monday in which he remembers his visit to Arlington National Cemetery last year.
Link to tweet
Last year at Arlington Cemetery, I met a young boy named Christian Jacobs. He was special, Trump added. He was standing fully in a uniform. His father was a great man to him and he was a great man to me. And Christian was standing over his fathers grave, saluting. It was something Ill never forget. Jacobss father, Marine Sgt. Christopher Jacobs, reportedly died during training exercises in California in 2011.
Trump is scheduled to participate in a Memorial Day wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery later Monday morning.
Arlington is a special place and our country is a special place. As Americans, we come together to remember our great heroes on this Memorial Day. Thank you, the president concluded in his video.

This is not why he went over to Europe to help win World War II.
This is not why he put his life on the line and why many of his buddies sacrificed their lives.
On behalf of my dad and myself I have never been more outraged than I am today. This day is set aside to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. My father would argue he is not one of them (he returned). This asshole makes the day a 'hey look what I did' day. Asshole, you are going to be so fucked when justice is served.

Although I did have to look up the word "hagiography."
I'm surprised he didn't throw in "MAGA!" and "no collusion."
He had no words about the freedoms we enjoy because of the sacrifices all veterans have made ever since the founding of the country. No mention of our First Amendment rights, which enables black players the right to protest at football games.
He didn't talk about how important it is to honor the Flag, like his beautiful pal, Ted Nugent:
There wa no mention about the widening fight against Nazism here at home, which the members of the Greatest Generation had thought they had wiped off the face of the earth. Instead, Nazism, racism and alt-right organizations have thrived in the bullshit fertilizer IQ45 spreads every day. He didn't mention his own purple heart -- given to him by a vet at a campaign rally -- and how much he really wanted to serve, but, you know, bone spurs.
He fails to mention those men and women who have died -- and will die -- to salve his tender ego against enemies real and imagined.
In the end, his Memorial Day statement was all about him. Did we expect anything else?

(3,245 posts)Dodging STDs was his personal Vietnam War. He suffered and sacrificed, and he went to a private military academy. We all know those are more like the military than the actual military. Oh, and he knows more than the generals do, don't forget.
It's sickening beyond the reach of words that this sniveling worm is able to even enter Arlington National Cemetery, let alone give a self-congratulatory speech on such hallowed ground.

BTW Trump kept a copy of Hitler's speeches by his bed and I don't think
the millions who served to get rid of that evil man would be happy w/Trump

Note to Donnie Two-scoops: To those who have lost someone - either in our own family or in our military brotherhood 'families' - in service to our nation it's sort of like saying, 'Have a great time at your mother's funeral!' Stop being such an asshole!
