(7,434 posts)The GOP romanced the US gullibles, took them to bed, fucked them like blow-up dolls, then left them before dawn. And now the citizenry is left to wonder, What happened to my virtue?
The most extensive and expensive propaganda network in human history did a number on the gullibles, and most of them still dont know what hit them.

(17,015 posts)No one likes being conned and the tax law was definitely a con. Impeachment, Russia etc isn't personal, the rich getting richer while our health care is slowly eroded, nursing home residents being kicked out, is. The ads pretty much write themselves.

(4,341 posts)When the economy is destroyed people are more worried about where they are going to get money to buy food, pay rent/mortgage/etc, they stop thinking so much about the politics that they know it is the reason for the dire situation, but feeding your family and paying your bills becomes a 24/7 issue.
The tax bill is meant to weaken the economy while putting more money on those who already have. That is what Fidel Castro did in Cuba, what Hugo Chavez did in Venezuela, etc. etc.
I wish I had a strategy and the power to implement it, but the only thing I can do is vote, try to get the message to the DNC to safeguard our voting rights, voting process from the cheating that the republicans will be putting in November. Without the right safeguards the gop will remain in power and if they happened to do so we will never get rid of them, that is exactly what has happened in Venezuela. Take a look at the latest "elections" in Venezuela, the voting places were empty all day, no one showed up, they still claimed a huge percentage of voters, and guess who "won"? Maduro...

(5,801 posts)the GOPeePee pushed the tax scam through Congress, esp. the Senate, at breakneck speed and in secret, without the customary hearings and input.
They rammed this sucker through, just as they falsely accused Obamacare (which had over a year of deliberations and bipartisan opportunity for modification) of being pushed through, in the dead of night.
So, even the deplorables had little idea what hit them. Of course, par for the course and what was to be expected for the criminals the deplorables so wanted to see in power--now looting the nation.

(11,885 posts)Are seeing for what it really is, A SCAM. Trump and the Republican party passed a windfall profits bill for themselves , then called it a tax bill, then added removing millions from the ACA making them lose their health care plan. They now are trying to promote pure propaganda claiming its good for the middle class and the poor , when its another windfall to the richest people in this country, and they'll now destroy Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security because of it. SCAM! Republicans will pay for this in NOV. .

(4,110 posts)One of the most important lessons I have observed about people is that some will not learn anything without being in extreme pain. Until the rubes on fixed incomes lose their medicare and social security or the suckers lose their jobs Don the Con said he would save are in extreme pain, they will not change. A person's ability to refuse to face facts facing squarely in the face has always fascinated me.

(6,196 posts)hopefully beachfront or mountain top location. With next years tax saving we are finally planning to take that round world trip we have been dreaming of since we got married 48 years ago.
Just think before the GOP tax cut we were living on two Social Security checks. But we have always taken comfort in the medical health care savings plan we managed to squirrel away when we were working. I hope the $1500.00 will take care of future medical issues.
