In a true embrace of the free press, President Donald Trump told his millions of Twitter followers to watch the opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem on Fox News and Fox Business.

Though it is well known that the president is a big fan of the Fox networks over other “failing” or “fake” outlets such as CNN or MSNBC, the directive comes the morning after New York magazine published a massive report detailing Trump’s nightly calls with Fox News host Sean Hannity — to discuss everything from the Russia witch hunt to cable news ratings — and the White House’s cozy relationship with the network.

The Embassy opening is already deeply controversial, as Jerusalem is a holy city for three major religions. Moving the United States Embassy there from Tel Aviv signals a very strong support of Israeli – and by extension, Jewish – governance of that city with U.S. assistance, potentially at the expense of other religious groups who live in the country. Indeed, protests in Gaza have already turned deadly ahead of the announcement.
