Some local donors still support Akin campaign
Source: 41 Action news
Akin isn't from the Kansas City area, so the number of donors for the primary here is small compared to the rest of the state. Most all tell us they will give more money.
According to the FEC, up until Congressman Todd Akin's comments about rape, his campaign was at $2.2 million dollars. Of his 1,695 donations only a couple dozen came from the Kansas City metro area.
Akin's top five donors from the area are:
Mark & Susan Susz - $5,000 ($2,500 each)
James Miller - $2,000
Wayne Graves - $1,000
Thomas Hall - $1,000
Susan Phillips - $1,000
Susan Susz declined to comment when asked if she and her husband still support Akin.

(36,974 posts)because usually when a GOPer does a big gaffe they send out a donation request email and bring in at least ONE MILLION in 24 hours.
I think that Akin is NOT going to be making the kind of money that he might have thought he would have.

(23,316 posts)...showed a goal of raising $125,000, and reported actually raising $150,000--so they're raising the goal to $200,000 by tonight.
I'm going to watch (if I can stomach it) to see if he makes it. I won't be surprised to see that he *says* he makes it, just to keep up a positive perception....
