Georgia governor candidate aims gun at teen in campaign ad. 'Get over it,' he tells critics.

Source: The Washington Post

Political candidates have long appeared with guns in campaign ads — holding guns, firing guns, and even assembling guns blindfolded. Earlier this month, Georgia gubernatorial candidate Hunter Hill aired an ad showing him loading an assault rifle. The video title? “Liberals won’t like this.”

Now, a new ad in the race for Georgia governor — in which a candidate points a gun at a teenager — did not sit well with some Georgians. After all, it aired just one state away from the Florida high school where 17 people were killed in a mass shooting

In the campaign ad, Brian Kemp, Georgia’s secretary of state, sits in a room surrounded by firearms — handguns on a table to his right, rifles on the table in front of him, and what appear to be two AR-15-style guns leaning on the wall behind him. Across his lap he holds a double-barrel shotgun, cleaning it off as he speaks into the camera. Next to him sits a young man in khakis and a tucked-in flannel shirt.

“I’m Brian Kemp, this is Jake, a young man interested in one of my daughters,” he says, motioning to the teenager next to him. “Yes, sir,” Jake responds, looking nervous as he fidgets with his fingers.

...it will be interesting dealing with her when when she's in her thirties, alone, bitter, and resentful -- and knows where your guns are and how to use them.

who recently decided to kill his girlfriend's parents and then shot himself with a healthy respect for the 2nd amendment as a more of a problem than a solution.

I dated a woman whose retired Army dad has a concealed carry permit and a west Texas accent and his threats never worked on any of her boyfriends or her 2 husbands. Her current husband decided to max out her credit cards and overdraw her checking account and completely ruin her credit without asking. That turkey is still alive.

A comment on YouTube: This is like something you’d seen on Parks and Rec or South Park to make fun of Georgia. Thanks for upholding the stereotype.

This is an example of "fetish". Especially when he says -

“Most are offended by my arsenal of firearms,”

If he was a "responsible" gun owner and collector, then he would take it seriously and not try to win the Darwin Award with this sort of stupidity.

I'm a member of a shooting range club, and no one ever lets a mistake in safety slide. You're not allowed to even touch a firearm when someone is downrange.

is a gun safety organization. "A healthy respect for guns". Then they run these kind of ads about shooting kids, killing political rivals. Shows how full of crap they are. The poster above you is absolutely right. It's a firearm fetish. It's not healthy. And pointing a gun at a kid in a campaign ad has got to be prosecutable, and if I had it my way, he'd lose his guns over it.

Cause repeat that scenario in Florida and the kid, if 18, could have pulled a gun and blown away the idiot. Pointing a gun at someone is threatening to kill them.
