Ronny Jackson won't return to old job as Trump's physician

Source: Politico

By ELIANA JOHNSON 04/29/2018 05:16 PM EDT

White House physician Ronny Jackson will not return to his role as the president’s personal physician, according to two senior administration officials, after a string of allegations caused the Navy rear admiral to withdraw his nomination last week to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Sean Conley, a Navy officer who took over Jackson’s role as the president’s personal doctor last month, will continue in the role, the officials said.

Jackson bowed out last week after Montana Sen. Jon Tester, the top Democrat on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, released a document summarizing allegations by current and former colleagues that Jackson over-prescribed pills, drank on the job and created a hostile work environment. Jackson has denied the allegations and has returned to work in the White House Medical Unit.

President Donald Trump has continued defending Jackson, with whom he formed a tight personal bond.

I guess that's the intent of the repuglicon/russian/plutocrats.

I wonder if they've thought through enough to the end game - the one where they're supposed to inherit the earth. I think those few survivors will rue the day that the dump was given power. Even those in Omaha and Moscow and NYC.

Just like Ayn Rand's fictional writings, their economic and societal philosophies have never been fully tested to the end. Partially yes, but not fully, and mostly failing historically. These people live in constant denial of a ton of human reality.

I've never been able to envision what their authoritarian dream-world of austerity and little or no government would look like, and not sure of who the hell would want to live in it.

Although I think written about men of the cloth, Trump and his cabinet regularly brings to mind the words of the British Lord Acton:

Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority, still more when you superadd the tendency or the certainty of corruption by authority. There is no worse heresy than that the office sanctifies the holder of it.

How many of them have actually worked and sweated? How many have mixed/ate/slept/worried with the common people? How many have tried to help the most deserving?

For some reason I always think of William Buckley pontificating about the evils of liberalism - with his prep-school-college voice.

had the real-life experiences equal to Barack Obama. Their primary metric seems more along the lines of "how many millions of middle-class and poor people have you screwed over in your career?" Think Bush 1 & 2, Chaney, Pruitt, and all the rest of tRump's cabinet.

One irony I thought of is that those of us who have lived life in the trenches committed a few sins along the way, so we probably wouldn't have a chance in hell to be elected for any public office. Experience doesn't count for much these days and one almost has to be filthy rich, a psychopath and chronic liar to have a chance.

Sad times, these are.......

You don't get chucked from the military just because of "reports."

(Okay, that's not true. You could get chucked from the voenno-morskoi flot* for that in prior decades, because anonymous reports were the fuel that kept the ranks purged. Actually, that's probably as true today as it was then. True also for the '50s if you were the subject of anonymous claims of being a Communist. We become what we hate.)

* voenno-morskoi flot is Russian for "navy"

Admiral Jackson was doing o.k. when the only things he was known for were being affable and sticking his finger up the president's butt once a year during his annual physical.

Once Trump yanked him into the spotlight, however, every aspect of his professional life was examined, as it should be. His dreams of glory -- as being the savior of the V.A. -- was his downfall. He should have thanked IQ45 humbly, said, I'm happy just sticking my finger up your butt, and gone back to doing what he'd been doing so well for so many years.

Jackson is a victim of the Peter Principle: A person rises to the highest level of his incompetence.

I expect him to retire in the near future.

Will his name be added to Rachel's board?

with a record such as his. I guess the arrogance is so large that since he dismisses others, other "important" people will, too.

And the other appointees of Trump, like the wife beater, the foreign agent Flynn, and others...thinking that their misdeeds will go unnoticed. They must think that other people are so stupid they won't find out, or have such a grand opinion of themselves that it won't matter.

BS. With all due respect, the man was an Admiral. Does anyone really think he was going to be reported for piss-poor behavior ? No. Not by the SS, not by anyone. They would not want to go on record as tanking a man's career - even if he deserved it. I can tell you that no one wants to be the first person, civilian or military, to damage a career officer. The ramifications can be painful and enduring. It's a cover-up carousel at that level.

But watch. Trump will give him another star and then he will retire.

Not that Ronny Jackson seems to have deserved his good reputation in the first place, but Trump embodies the Flying Fickle Finger of Fate. Some deserve their downfall, others don't, but in every case I can think of they were cruising along in their jobs awaiting a retirement pension until Trump tappd them on the shoulder and involved them in his horrible life.

25. Why Not Keep Him At The White House
Mon Apr 30, 2018, 10:38 AM
Apr 2018

If Donald Trump likes Ronny Jackson so much why does he not keep him at the White House. It seems that if Trump likes Ronny Jackson so much and thinks he is such a great doctor he could give Sean Conley a new job and let Jackson have his job back. This makes me think Trump does not have as high of an opinion of Jackson as he is claiming. After all, Trump did not defend Jackson before he dropped out of consideration for the VA job. Trump even went as far as to encourage Jackson to drop out of consideration.

I think Trump is just using Jackson as an excuse to go after Jon Tester. If Trump really supported Jackson he could have done much more to try to disprove the allegations. Did Trump really form "a tight personal bond" with Ronny Jackson? Does Trump form "tight personal bond[s]" with anyone? I think Trump only liked Jackson because Jackson was willing to claim that Trump was an extremely healthy man even though everyone else either thought, or knew that Trump was not a very healthy man.
