Appearing on CBS Face the Nation, the South Carolina Republican said, I think some of those allegations do warrant being investigated, referring to a series of allegations levied against the White House physician and now-withdrawn VA secretary nominee, Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson.
...........................................
Jackson withdrew his nomination to serve as Trumps VA secretary last week after allegations surfaced that, among other things, he created a toxic work environment and maintained poor prescription records.
Allegations of Jacksons creating a hostile work environment would be the jurisdiction of some combination of the Veterans Affairs Committee and House Oversight, Gowdy said.

(14,494 posts)all because of another totally inappropriate, unqualified nomination.
The right-wingers are attacking Sen. Tester with a lot of vile stuff and the VA is still without much-needed leadership. And the winger media paints it as a travesty.

(14,494 posts)and I think it should be. When one sees this, it should automatically trigger an investigation: Accusations came from....(quote) "interviews with 20+ active and retired service members." Very difficult for me to believe that many service members would potentially put their careers in jeopardy by making false accusations against an officer. However, ultimately, the statements should be made under oath.
Good summary (also see accompanying links) here:

Not sure either how this would best be investigated, or who would initiate it - whether through an inspector general's office, a military inquiry, or directly by the FBI. Regardless, I no longer trust congressional investigations!

(14,494 posts)These make me feel a bit better that some rational investigation will occur, but probably will take quite a while. If done within the Department of Defense, it has better odds of being shielded from politics.
Good overall review here:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/ronny-jackson-withdraws-as-trumps-nominee-to-lead-veterans-affairs-but-he-remains-under-scrutiny/2018/04/26/a42316d8-4961-11e8-9072-f6d4bc32f223_story.html?utm_term=.8630656511e7
(snip)
"The allegations released by Tester suggest that colleagues had previously raised some concerns with the Navy surgeon generals office, the White House Military Office and the Defense Department inspector general.
Several entities could potentially investigate Jackson, including the Defense Department inspector general. The Navy has a separate inspector general, and the Navys surgeon general, Vice Adm. C. Forrest Faison III, also could have a stake in the case as the chief of the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery."

And, some (as usual) good comments here:
https://wonkette.com/633245/dr-ronny-jackson-demoted-will-have-to-lie-about-other-white-house-staffers-weight-now
(snip)
"More allegations have trickled in since Thursday, when Jackson ended his bid to lead VA, and they are being referred to the inspector generals office within the Defense Department, according to a Democratic aide."
and
"In any case, Dr. Jackson still has a job (maybe!), the Defense Departments inspector general is apparently continuing to look at the allegations made against him during his brief visit to the spotlight, and Donald Trump is still looking for a VA secretary who really, really loves him. And wants to do right by veterans, too, that would be a nice bonus, but not absolutely necessary."
-------------------
My suspicion is that in the end, Jackson will regret ever accepting tRump's nomination. His entire career could be destroyed.
