Washington (CNN)Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich expressed frustration with the current state of the Republican and Democratic parties Sunday amid rumors that he could pursue a 2020 presidential run.
"I'm still a Republican. I didn't leave the Republican Party. The Republican Party left me," Kasich said on CNN's "State of the Union." "In my state we have balanced budgets, surplus, we're up half a million jobs and then people say, 'Well Kasich's not a conservative.' What does that mean?"
"Come home to where we basically live," the 2016 presidential candidate added. "We should care about people from top to bottom, not just those at the top, but everybody. I can bring that party back. That's what I'm going to do in one way or another."
Kasich hasn't ruled out a presidential run in 2020, saying that he's keeping his options open. And though he's been rumored to be pursuing an independent candidacy, he told CNN earlier this month that it was unlikely.

(13,305 posts)...What policies does he propose that would help those at the bottom? For that matter what policy has the Republican party at any point in the past 50 years (at least) proposed that would help people at the bottom? Or anyone other than wealthy White Christians?
Fuck Kasich right in his smug, hypocritical face.

Oh wait, it was the democrats who made sure we got those checks.
But yeah, please proceed, governor.

(9,426 posts)Before tRump chose a VP tRump Jr. went to Kasich's aide, with a proposal. How would Kasich like to be the most powerful VP in history? (Forgetting about the reign of Cheney) He would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy. The aide asked "What would tRump be doing, then?" With a smirk Jr. said "Making America great again" If this had been exposed, things might have changed. tRump wanted no park of this job that he does not understand. He's rather be golfing. The fact that the taxpayers are on the hook for all his expenses is a great perk, though. Kasich should have exposed tRump for the faker that he is, right away. That is the problem, the entire gop tries to make tRump look "normal" when he obviously is not.

41. Ohio
Parts of Ohio have been hit hard by deindustrialization, but cities like Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati still host mostly strong and diverse economies.
While Ohio's December 2017 unemployment rate of 4.7% was tied for 10th worst among the states and DC, the state's Q3 2017 GDP growth of 3.9% was tied for sixth highest in the country.

He is a grift weasel too.

(37,648 posts)It's also accepted by most scholars that he did in fact exist, was baptized by John the Baptist, and was crucified (crucifixion was a common method of execution at that time).
It's the being son of God part that is the "belief" thing, and which can't be proved or disproved, being a religious belief. Or his teachings, as reflected in the Bible...no historical proof.

I don't think most people in the country believe that. Although probably some which is far too many.

(37,648 posts)Not in the world, maybe. But most Americans believe in Jesus being a God, etc.
No, I doubt many people believe Kasich will be POTUS one day. Most don't know who he is, probably.

(455 posts)My fiance comes from the great state of Ohio. We moved to Akron last year to be near his family. Every day I'm surrounded by the effects of his governorship of Ohio- crumbling or closing schools with no funding, potholes I could swim in, a lack of jobs. There is a drug epidemic thats mentioned in local papers on the regular. Businesses, supposedly the focus of right wing policy, close almost as fast as they open. I see 2-3 homeless people every time I leave the house on a local trip.
You *ARE* the republican party, Kasich. You can try and rebrand yourself for the national stage an eventual presidential run but the people who have seen your policies up close and personal know that you are just another re-thug. If you cared about the people at the bottom, people would have seen some inkling of it by now.
Your polices have done little to nothing for the Buckeye state population that isn't white and affluent. Go f*ck yourself. Preferably with the big ol chunk of highway that's sitting outside on the road in front of my apartment complex.

(37,648 posts)For those who don't remember, that was another famous line by Reagan in a debate: I didn't leave the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party left me.
There are far worse Repubs than Kasich. But they all sign off on the Republican Party Platform, which is standard in a pro-life policy position, and other conservative policies.
