Trump threatens to 'close down the country' over funding for border wall

Source: The Hill

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 04/28/18 08:21 PM EDT

President Trump threatened on Saturday to "shut down the country" – an apparent reference to a government shutdown – unless Congress approves funding for his long-promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

In a fiery campaign-style speech, Trump lashed out at Democratic lawmakers for opposing his pledge to build the border wall, and said that once government funding runs out at the end of September he would call for a so-called shutdown.

"We have to have borders and we have to have them fast and we need security, we need the wall," Trump said at the rally in Washington, Michigan.

"That wall has started. We got $1.6 billion. We come up again on Sept. 28 and if we don’t get border security, we’ll have no choice. We’ll close down the country. Because we need border security."

How to Build Trump’s Wall - Privatize It

Republicans have often found a way to tax people surreptitiously by privatizing many public works projects to corporations rather than have gov’t pay for it. A fee/toll is a tax under another name.

The corporations/investors are granted a multi-year license with a guaranteed profit.

This could also be done with Trump’s Wall with Mexico.

Corporations/investors front the money to build it and they will be paid by Mexico.

It gives republicans a chance to save the gov’t money by investing in it and show their confidence in Trump’s word that Mexico will pay for it .

No gov’t backed bonds.

No cost to the gov’t,,, no need for taxes,,, profit for the patriotic investors who believe in Trump.

Win win all around.

Even Trump can show his patriotism and shrewd business savvy by investing in it.

and fuck over the entire country, especially the military, because I didn't get my way. Just goes to show the utter emptiness of his security claims that he's willing to jeopardize our entire military to build a wall to stop the flow of immigrants that's already been thinned to a trickle. Who wants to emigrate and live in a hate filled USA stolen by drumpf and his Ruskie pals?

How many GOP Congress members does he think are going to go along with shutting down the government two months before they’re up for re-election?

Not going to happen. They’d be cutting their own throats and tossing their careers down the toilet.
