Police in Nashville said Monday that they had arrested Travis Reinking, the 29-year-old accused of killing four people in a shooting rampage at a Waffle House over the weekend.
The announcement Monday afternoon came nearly 34 hours after the mass shooting, which unnerved the Tennessee capital and prompted a sprawling manhunt. A little more than an hour before police said they had apprehended Reinking, authorities had acknowledged having no confirmed sightings of him and saying they were not even sure if he remained in the area.
Police did not immediately say how Reinking was located. But while he was at large, they said he posed a significant danger to the area, saying Reinking had shown signs of significant instability, Don Aaron, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, said at a news briefing late Monday morning.
Aaron pointed to Reinkings arrest outside the White House last year, as well as a string of bizarre encounters with law enforcement officials in Illinois. Reinking once told law enforcement officers that the singer Taylor Swift had been harassing and stalking him a delusion that authorities in Illinois said Reinking had had for years.

I wonder if the cops took him out for some Burger King...

(12,051 posts)tough question, that. Especially for those 'sovereign citizens.'
Sarcasm aside, this man seems schizophrenic and should be in a mental institution after his antics in past years, but
OH, WAIT, thanks to Reagan and the Pubs, we don't have mental institutions any more. Not enough to count, anyway.

If they're not white, they need to get a job immediately, or else no foods stamps.

This dude should probably have never been allowed to purchase his guns based on his past record

(11,841 posts)Theres gotta be a crime of some sort there. He was told to keep them from this guy.
IronLionZion
(45,523 posts)so the father should be prosecuted for that at least. There may be some federal laws broken since the dude took his guns to DC and Tennessee.
But the best part of it all is that sovereign citizens don't believe they should follow the government's laws. That should be reason enough to deny someone's right to bear arms. They can't be law abiding gun owners.

Interesting story about a vigilant construction worker spotting him and calling 911, so they'll have a second hero. He's damn lucky to be alive.

AP, 'Waffle House Suspect Arrested' April 23, 2018:
Meanwhile, authorities in Illinois shared past reports suggesting multiple red flags about a disturbed young man with paranoid delusions.
In May 2016, Reinking told deputies from Tazewell County, Illinois, that music superstar Taylor Swift was stalking him and hacking his phone, and that his family was also involved, according to a report released Sunday.
Reinking agreed to go to a local hospital for an evaluation after repeatedly resisting the request, the sheriff's report said.
Another sheriff's report said Reinking barged into a community pool in Tremont, Illinois, last June, and jumped into the water wearing a pink woman's coat over his underwear. Investigators believed he had an AR-15 rifle in his car trunk, but it was never displayed. No charges were filed.
Last July, Reinking was arrested by the U.S. Secret Service after he crossed into a restricted area near the White House and refused to leave, saying he wanted to meet President Donald Trump. Reinking was not armed at the time, but at the FBI's request, state police in Illinois revoked his state firearms card and seized four guns from him, authorities said.
The AR-15 used in the shootings was among the firearms seized.
In August, Reinking told police he wanted to file a report about 20 to 30 people tapping into his computer and phone and people "barking like dogs" outside his residence, according to a report.
"There's certainly evidence that there's some sort of mental health issues involved," Tazewell County Sheriff Robert Huston said. But he said deputies returned the guns to Reinking's father on the promise that he would "keep the weapons secure and out of the possession of Travis."
