GOP senators raise concerns about babies on Senate floor

Source: The Hill

GOP senators have raised concerns about a new resolution that allows babies under one-year-old onto the Senate floor during votes but were not worried enough to vote against the measure.

While the measure cleared the chamber by unanimous consent, a number of Senators expressed that they are still unsure about the new rule introduced by Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), who recently became the first sitting senator to give birth while in office.

Longtime Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch (Utah), who has six children, 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, said he had "no problem" with the new rule for the chamber, but asked "what if there are 10 babies on the floor of the Senate?," according to The Associated Press.

Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kansas) also told the AP that while he didn't object to the change, he didn't think it was "necessary" to allow newborns on the chamber floor.

There are already 51 babies on the floor of the Senate... a few more shouldn't hurt.

A few newborns on the Republican side may just raise the maturity level.

"Family values" GOPpers will flee in panic from this essential family function.

2. 10 babies on the Senate floor means that we have elected at least 10 women Senators under age 45--

Can't they be content with just vicariously relishing the debauchery of Dirty Donny, their republican Draft-Dodger-in-Chief & 'family-values' role model? Do they have to piss on America's babies, too?

Let's stay in the realm of the rational. There's one person with an infant child. When there are 10 we can revisit the rule. I can't believe they've spent this much time even THINKING about this.
