Trump declared he's running again. Many Republicans aren't ready to back him.

Washington (CNN) - A wide array of House and Senate Republicans are not yet ready to endorse President Donald Trump's bid for a second term, a reflection of the deep uncertainty on Capitol Hill over his political standing amid growing problems at home and abroad.

In interviews with a cross-section of more than two dozen GOP lawmakers, ranging from rank-and-file members, conservatives and party leaders, many refused to say they'd back Trump's re-election bid -- a surprise declaration given that members of Congress are typically quick to endorse sitting presidents of their own party without hesitation. Hardly any would offer a categorical endorsement of the President.

"I don't know what the world is going to look like," said Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, a Texas Republican, when asked if he'd endorse Trump for re-election. "But let's say it's not something I've given any thought to."

Asked several days later if he had given thought to it, Cornyn demurred.

Raise money, which is mostly being spent on lawyers, and to go to red spots to rail and scream against most dems, HC, immigrants, and his usual , fbi, cia etc. it’s always the same crap and should not be aired on tv. We’ve heard it all before and it is not presidential info, it’s propaganda. The more tv broadcasts it the more the poison spreads.

I feel like there is a whole hell of a lot of buyer's remorse and that would be bad for his re-election.

I'd love for him to run again. The campaign would be horrible, of course. It will be the ugliest, dirtiest thing we've ever seen. We will all have to shower with fire-hoses after it and no one will ever feel clean again.

But, I think he'd get trounced.

They want to see how the Mueller investigation plays out. It's about political survival.

If he's the nominee, they'll fall in line. Most of them will do so even before the primaries begin. It's what they do.

That's all he's done since the election, has had more campaign rallies - where it gives him a chance to bash anyone he sees as an opponent, past or present, and bask in the cheers of his benighted supporters. Well, that and playing golf. So much for filling vacant government posts and running the country.

... away from the law. His pac money will go to himself, his lawyers, and probably for payoffs to others. No re-election like he claims. Just another scam from trump for funds from others to use for himself.
