SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea has expressed its desire for complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and is not seeking conditions such as U.S. troops withdrawing from the South first, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said on Thursday.
Moon said big-picture agreements about normalization of relations between the two Koreas and the United States should not be difficult to reach through planned summits between North and South, and between the North and the United States, in a bid to rein in the Norths nuclear and missile programs.
North Korea is expressing a will for a complete denuclearization, Moon told reporters.
They have not attached any conditions that the U.S. cannot accept, such as the withdrawal of American troops from South Korea. All they are expressing is the end of hostile policies against North Korea, followed by a guarantee of security.

(733 posts)with Trump or why he has stopped all nuclear testing since last fall.
It could be because Kim's nuclear program is stalled due to the earthquakes that probably made it unsafe to do more testing. He may need the time of "peace ttalks" to build another test site.
"Chinas earthquake administration said on Saturday it had detected a magnitude 3.4 earthquake in North Korea that was a suspected explosion, raising fears the isolated state had conducted another nuclear bomb test."

(721 posts)EVERY TIME the focus is on Trump and his scandals a "bombshell" of good news for his administration, like this South Korean announcement happens. every time. And each time it takes focus away from whatever debacle Trump's cronies or Trump himself are involved in. It robs the momentum of the stories and leads to good press. All anyone is talking about is this supposed N Korean denuclearization that I suspect is a plant by Trump-friendly S Korean entities.
This man should have been impeached by now. Its ludicrous the amount of time the investigation is taking and the LACK of RESULT
I have no patience with this racist sexist moron in office. COME ON MUELLER

I'd rather Mueller take his time and get the job done right. While the investigation is ongoing, Trump is under a cloud and probably hesitant to rock the boat too much.
If Mueller rushes the probe, then takes his shot and misses, then Trump has free reign to go totally off the rails.
