McConnell looks at longer workweeks for Senate to keep Dems from campaigning: report

Source: The Hill

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is reportedly looking to hold longer workweeks as a way to keep vulnerable Democratic senators off the campaign trail.

White House legislative director Marc Short told a group of GOP donors this week that McConnell planned to prolong the Senate's workweek in order to reduce the amount of time vulnerable Democrats can spend campaigning, according to The Washington Examiner.

One GOP donor told the Examiner that the tactic is intended to keep Democrats, like Sens. Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Joe Manchin (W.Va.) and Claire McCaskill (Mo.), "tied up from campaigning."

Heitkamp, Manchin and McCaskill are among a handful of Senate Democrats facing potentially tough reelection bids in states won by President Trump in 2016.

Republicans can't win without cheating. I think that could end up being their downfall. More and more people are seeing they are devoid of ideas or solutions and they don't know how to govern.

It hurts both sides. But, on the other hand, since none expect any serious legislation to come out of the Senate anyway before the November elections, why the talk? It's simply to show the deplorable base McTurtle is doing something to harm the Dems. Fat chance at harm done!

It's all the harm Trumpanzee is doing to the Senate and House members, first bit by bit. Now, it's full scale war between the two camps as Trump is determined not to be their 'boy'. Odd too until the big Republiscum donors start withholding hard cash, as some have already threatened or done, unless they start opposing the fat orange man.

Congress won't work full-time to represent the people, but it will work over-time to help reThugs
keep their seats. Is that about it?

But they are both just mean-spirited fucks! The entire GOP is so vile that I can no longer look past people who identify as republican. Really? You're okay with a prez who won't investigate foreign influence in our elections as long as the election went the way you wanted? Fuck their fucking hypocrisy. I will be dining with some rwnj cousins this weekend. One has a penchant for bringing up topics for which he should know better.

I suspect many gin & tonics!

Does he not realize this also keeps Ted Cruz and other vulnerable republicans from campaigning, as well? Or, that there are such things as surrogates?

I'm sure that when he realizes that he'll actually have to do work, himself, he'll change his mind.

McCaskill won by 15 points.

Heitkamp is the most vulnerable of the three.

That said, if we lose her but pick up the seat in Texas from Cruz or any one of several vulnerable republicans that are running this year we may still come out ahead.

Is part of the reason the American people will vote for all Democrats this upcoming election to make sure he no longer is a majority leader, and can't screw the American people over any more. He's another crook , and trump supporter that's corrupt.
