Russia's Putin predicts global 'chaos' if West hits Syria again

Source: Reuters

APRIL 15, 2018 / 6:29 AM / UPDATED 14 MINUTES AGO

MOSCOW/DAMASCUS (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin warned on Sunday that further Western attacks on Syria would bring chaos to world affairs, while signs emerged that Moscow and Washington want to pull back from the worst crisis in their relations for years.

Putin made his remarks in a telephone conversation with Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani after the United States, France and Britain launched missile strikes on Syria on Saturday over a suspected poison gas attack.

A Kremlin statement said Putin and Rouhani agreed that the Western strikes had damaged the chances of achieving a political resolution in the multi-sided, seven-year conflict that has killed at least half a million people.

“Vladimir Putin, in particular, stressed that if such actions committed in violation of the U.N. Charter continue, then it will inevitably lead to chaos in international relations,” a Kremlin statement said.

they didn't fire a single one. Now he is basically saying, "Ok, I let you do it this time, but you better watch out next time." As I wrote before the attack, Russia is bluffing big time.

Humpty-Trumpty and Putin, or Trumpty has overstepped his bounds and Putin's going to release the Golden Showers video. That'll cause chaos for sure.

Me? I think it's the first.

12. Blatant hypocrisy all around. The international community is a failure.

It's a failure when we look at the history of this conflict which started as a local demonstration against Assad. Now we have a nation bombed to rubble, a half-million lives lost, and millions more displaced. Then, we also look at recent actions in Burma and Yemen, and further back at Iraq, the utter disregard for human life and security astounds me.

It's as if the international players consider it their right to intervene in any way they please to defend their "interests", and to hell with the interests of the affected nation's populace, existing structure and resources.

My knowledge of the U.N.'s structures is limited, but from what I know, I don't see a way to end these bloody cycles. As long as we have massive quantities of guns and bombs under the control of stupid, selfish psychopaths, it probably will never end.
