Ryan signals support for McCarthy as next GOP leader

Source: The Hill

BY SCOTT WONG - 04/12/18 12:23 PM EDT

A day after his retirement announcement, Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on Wednesday signaled support for Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as his successor.

Ryan did so by saying that he was pleased that Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) had endorsed McCarthy to succeed him.

"I was encouraged that Scalise this morning said that he thinks after the election that Kevin McCarthy ought to be the person to replace me after the elections,” Ryan told reporters at his weekly news conference. "What it shows you is that we have an intact leadership team that supports each other, that's all heading in the right direction,” the Speaker added.

In an appearance on Fox News, Scalise said he would not run against McCarthy but did not offer an endorsement.

speakership when he tried to defend the lack of any accomplishments by the House Republicans by (correctly) whining that they had "accomplished" a dramatic drop in Clinton's approval ratings with all their revolting Benghazi "investigations." I mean, he wasn't supposed to actually ADMIT that obvious fact, but he's also dumb.... so just the PERFECT leader for the stupid and mendacious House Republicans.

He's the same dipshit who admitted the Benghazi hearings was his "strategy" for getting Hillary's numbers down:

The blowback from the stupidity of admitting and taking credit for that "strategy" resulted in him dropping out of the Speaker race last time. That's how Ryan got the job. I guess now McCarthy is being given a second chance. That demonstrates how shallow the GOP bench is for Speaker candidates.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., warned Monday his home state's refusals to cooperate with federal immigration law "goes against everything that makes us the United States of America."

“There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump. Swear to God.” McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange.

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthy’s assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.

“This is an off the record,” Ryan said.

“No leaks, all right?,” Ryan said, adding: “This is how we know we’re a real family here.”

“That’s how you know that we’re tight,” Scalise said.
“What’s said in the family stays in the family,” Ryan added.

Sheesh all birds of a feather!

which inspired him to government service so he could help reduce the terrible burden of regulation oppressing such plucky and deserving entrepreneurs as himself.

Of course, like most Republican "success" stories, it's a complete pant load:

And he's the government "servant" (or presidential fluffer, if you will) who had his staffer spend taxpayer-funded time to sort through packages of Starburst to pick out the favorite flavors of Dear Leader.

<<McCarthy had a staffer “sort through the pile, placing only those two flavors in a jar,” The Post said. The jar, with McCarthy’s name on the side, later arrived at the White House to “a grinning Trump”—only the red and the pink ones; how exciting!>>

And because McCarthy is also known for being incredibly dumb:

<<Please nobody tell this poor staffer that a trip to Target could have saved him an afternoon’s work; a bag of red and pink Starburst only is available for less than $2.99, no additional labor required.>>
