GOP faction wants Ryan gone now

Source: Politico

A number of rank-and-file members, including several allies of Kevin McCarthy, say a protracted fight for speaker would hurt the party.

Paul Ryan wants to serve the rest of his term as speaker. But some senior Republicans are suggesting that Ryan relinquish his gavel now and allow a successor to take over.

Several allies to speaker hopeful Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), the majority leader, say House Republicans need to be united heading into the midterms, and that a leadership race could split the conference. Other Republicans are questioning whether having a lame-duck speaker at the helm of the Republican Conference will hurt their fundraising.

“We would have more success if there’s no ambiguity as to what the leadership structure might look like,” said Rep. Tom Graves (R-Ga.), one of McCarthy’s closest allies, who is pushing for a vote to replace Ryan sooner rather than later. “Certainty is important. ... From the conversations I’ve had, everybody wants our ‘A team’ in place, our strongest team in place, so we have the strongest outcome going into the election cycle.”

That‘s directly at odds with the message Ryan delivered on Wednesday, when he vowed to serve out his term. And most of the conference appears to be behind him — at least for now. Some hard-line conservatives who’ve butted heads with Ryan think a protracted leadership contest would mean a prolonged courtship of them by McCarthy and Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) — and potentially more influence down the road.

I can remember when this person was so popular that Mitt Romney had a fit, he knew that people really voting for Ryan and not him. He even organized to chant that said "Romney Ryan" so that his little ego would be soothed.

now he is on the outs, not just because he made King Trump mad, but because it turns out that for all of his desire to destroy the legacy of FDR, he is not far enough right for the base. The man can outright say he wants to get rid of Social Security, Medicare, public education, and he is still not far enough to the right for the evangelical action.

Of course, it could very well be that is one flaw was that he was a Republican that was honest about what he wanted, as opposed to be evangelical wing that sells the idea that they are really doing this to make God happy, so that he will pour down his favor upon this nation. Of course, looking at the terrible schools, high unemployment, polluted waters, andNever general decline of all things economic and social, one might wonder if the favor of this God is really a desirable thing.

Never mind, we all know that this guy is gearing for presidential run in either 2020 or 2024. I would not be surprised to see a certain soon to be senator from Utah become his Vice-presidential candidate. This time will be honest, Romney will be in the back seat, because he has been branded as a loser who lost to Obama. We also know that a certain set of brothers whose name I do not even need to speak here will be throwing as much money as they can behind him, not just because they want to bury Trump, but also because Paul Ryan is their ideal stooge. I would like to think that he will go down in flames, but let's be for real, while more people are awakened, we still have a lot of work to do.

Perhaps McCarthy thinks he can become president once Trump and Pence go down. But McCarthy had knowledge of Ryan covering up Russian money coming into the GOP and didn’t report it. Oops!
